Daredevil fans are eating good right now and this episode of Echo is no exception. Wilson Fisk and Maya Lopez’s complicated relationship takes center stage here in “Taloa,” setting up for the finale! Here we go!

Violence is the Answer | Flashback to 2008, where a young Maya tries to get an ice cream from an ignorant vendor who orders her to speak her order. She then goes into a car, where Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) tells her to wait as he drags the ice cream man into an alleyway and beats him to a pulp. Maya sees all of this, but joins in and kicks the man. In 2021, an adult Maya (Alaqua Cox) has dinner with Fisk and he tells her that they are the only ones who can trust each other, as he has his men execute his ASL translator in the hallway.

Back in present day, after Fisk sees Maya, he shoves a contact lens into her eye that translates his words into ASL for her. He asks for a usual Sunday dinner- even though it’s Thursday- and they go into Maya’s childhood home, as Fisk removes his eyepatch and says he’s not angry at her for shooting him. After she pours the bottle of wine he brought down the drain, they sit down and open the meal he prepared, including cookies from New York that were Maya’s favorite. He offers something to her: The chance to take his throne in New York, but only if she returns home with him this weekend. He leaves her to think it through and the next day, she tells Henry (Chaske Spencer) everything and he advises her not to trust Fisk for a second.

Generational |As Chula (Tantoo Cardinal) is preparing for the local festival, both she and Maya have visions of their ancestors and Maya starts having a seizure. Henry takes her to Chula’s house, where she confesses to Chula about her visions and Chula tells the story of how she gave birth to Maya’s mother and had the same visions before delivering the baby. She believes that the visions are a way of connecting the two of them, but Maya is furious at her for abandoning her after her mother died and storms out.

After Maya leaves, Chula starts sewing a costume for the festival, as Maya arrives at the hotel where Fisk is staying, gun drawn. Fisk shows her the hammer that he used to kill his abusive father and begs her to use it to kill him, but she refuses. Fisk once again extends his offer to join him in New York, but the next morning, as he waits at his private jet, he is informed by his men that they lost track of Maya.

Echo is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
