“Echo” Episode “Tuklo” Recap: Fun Times At the Roller Rink

In Echo best episode yet, “Tuklo” begins with more backstory about Maya’s ancestors, before kicking off an action packed battle once Maya’s past catches up to her in violent fashion. This one was a blast to watch! Here we go!

The Whitehorsemen | This episode starts as a black and white serial depicting The Whitehorsemen- a tribe of Native Americans who policed the old west. The daughter of one of these Whitehorsemen, Tuklo, wants to join her father, but he forbids it, telling her that women are givers of life while men take life. As her father and his men are ambushed by outlaws, Tuklo has visions of the ancestors from past episodes and finds the strength to kill the outlaws and save her father.

Roll to Me | In present day, Chala (Tantoo Cardinal) visits Skully (Graham Greene) at his repair shop to tell him that Maya (Alaqua Cox) is back in town, which of course, he already knows. He tries to play nice with her, even hinting at their past romantic involvement, and encourages her to make peace with Maya, which she is not receptive to. Elsewhere, Vickie (Thomas E. Sullivan) calls someone to alert them to Maya’s whereabouts and moments later, Maya is chloroformed and wakes up hanging by her feet from the disco ball at the roller rink.

She disconnects her prosthetic leg, freeing her, only to see Vickie and two women holding guns, as well as Henry (Chaske Spencer) bound and gagged. Vickie ties Maya to a pole, just as Bonnie (Devery Jacobs) arrives at the rink and sneaks into the service entrance. Vickie frees Henry to talk Bonnie down and he covertly signals for her to leave, but as she does, she tries to call for help, but gets grabbed by one of Vickie’s girls and thrown into the same room Maya is held in, leading to an awkward moment between the two.

It doesn’t last long, though, as Maya uses a knife hidden in her boot to cut them both free. As Maya tries to look for a way out, Bonnie angrily demands to know why Maya didn’t contact her, which Maya brushes off. Vickie storms back into the room to intimidate them and grabs Bonnie, but leaves one of his girls guarding Maya. Zane (Andrew Howard), one of the guys working for the shipping yard that Maya bombed, arrives and orders his men to search the rink, as Maya uses a makeshift weapon made from tools in the room to knock out the girl holding her.

Dragula |  An impatient Zane executes Vickie and try to interrogate Henry, just as Maya knocks out the lights and blasts Rob Zombie before making short work of the men, smashing them into arcade machines and using the cables connecting the arcade guns to whip them around, Unfortunately, Zane has a gun to Bonnie’s head and is moments away from executing them when he gets a call from someone and then orders his men to leave the rink, much to Maya’s surprise.

Maya orders Bonnie to leave so no one else gets hurt, but promises to be in touch. Henry tells Maya that only Fisk could’ve called Zane off and he promises to help Maya take him down. The next morning, Skully give Maya a brand new golden prosthetic leg before she rides her bike out of town, passing Bonnie on the way without engaging with her. As she stops at her old childhood house, she sees none other than Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) staring her down with an eyepatch over where she shot him.
