Y: The Last Man goes for a slower pace in this week’s episode, “Karen and Benji,” in which Hero and Sam run into complications trying to get to Washington DC, as Yorick and 355 have trust issues.
Hitting the Road | Hero (Olivia Thirlby) and Sam (Elliot Fletcher) raid an abandoned house that has a Cadillac in the barn, which Sam wants to drive to Washington DC, but Hero convinces him to stay the night since she’s not ready to face her mother after they fought over her relationship with a married man. In the middle of the night, Hero sneaks into the barn to do something and the next morning, the car won’t start…
The next day, they find Nora (Marin Ireland) and her wounded daughter hiding in an empty store, and Hero offers to help with the wound. Yorick (Ben Schnetzer) and 355 (Ashley Romans) go to a trader’s market to find a motorcycle, but Yorick is nearly killed by a group of renegade women who see his face. 355 beats them up and then chastises Yorick for not being careful enough and he snaps back at her for killing the helicopter pilots.
All or Nothing | Hero lets Nora stay with them, but lies about her name. As Hero tries to make peace with Sam, the two end up making out, while outside, Nora sees a group of women on horseback coming for her and they take her, Hero and Sam hostage, threatening to kill them. Hero offers to help them heal one of their wounded if they let them live and they take them to a warehouse where she stitches up a bullet wounded woman.
After Hero does all she can for the woman, a woman named Roxanne (Missy Pyle) arrives and shoots the injured woman and then offers food and shelter to Hero, Sam, and Nora. Nora then privately tells Hero that she knows who she is and advises her not to tell anyone else, as Roxanne reveals that they’re sheltered in a grocery store.
