Hungry for some brains? One Purgatory resident is on this week’s episode of Wynonna Earp on SYFY. We see what happens when a genie, a man hungry for smarts, and trivia night come together. ‘Crazy’ was written by Matt Doyle and directed by Jem Garrard, and here is the craziness that occurred!

Purgatory Needs a Sheriff | The episode opens with Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) and Nicole (Katherine Barrell) boxing and training together. After Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) enters it’s revealed that Wynonna wanted to get Nicole back to the Sheriff’s office, that’s why they’re there. The Earp sister’s are teaming up against Haught to try to convince her to take her old job as Sheriff back. Nicole seems less than thrilled at the idea since the town voted Holt Sheriff when everyone else was in the Garden. Nicole storms out and Waverly suggests Wynonna help the town out for the time being.

Elsewhere in Purgatory, a werewolf stumbles across a body that looks like it was killed by a vampire. The werewolf knows Wynonna is not going to be happy about this and hopes she doesn’t blame him.

At Shorty’s, Nicole tries to score free beer but Nedley (Greg Lawson) won’t allow it unless she’s an active duty officer once again. Nicole helps her old mentor set up for trivia night while he continues to pester her about taking her old job back. If Nicole’s going to listen to anyone it’s going to be Nedley. Nedley also lets Nicole know what happened with Rachel and Reaper Billy.

Wynonna steps into the Sheriff’s office and is greeted by a small group of people with complaints. She begins reading the complaints and the first is about a neighbor who painted flames on their car. Wynonna doesn’t take any of the complaints seriously and tells the people of Purgatory to just go out and enjoy the weather because everything is fine. Of course that’s when Jeremy (Varun Saranga) decides to enter covered in blood, he’s been conducting an autopsy on the victim found by the werewolf. Jeremy recognizes the victim as the winner of trivia night the previous week, and Waverly points out that at least he won’t be a problem at trivia finals that night. They both realize what they’re saying doesn’t seem right, why are they so obsessed with trivia night? Wynonna realizes she was also obsessed with trivia night, but that went away after she lost. That seems interesting and important.

Wynonna sees the bite marks on the victim’s neck and immediately realizes Doc (Tim Rozon) must be responsible, meaning he’s not morally better than her anymore. She seizes the opportunity to finally talk to him. Elsewhere, another person falls victim to an unknown killer.

Wynonna confronts Doc at the Glory Hole about what she thinks he’s done, but he quickly corrects her. He’s not the one who killed that man. She points Peacemaker at Doc and he’s definitely not happy about it. It also seems that Doc has acquired Amon’s minions when they jump to his aid.

Brains | Nicole confronts Rachel (Martina Ortiz-Luis) about letting Reaper Billy go, and Rachel comes back at her with about something called Chicken Kicker. We have no idea what that means, but I hope it gets explained soon! Rachel apologizes for what she did, and Nicole quickly forgives her. Rachel points out that Doc would easily forgive her as well, if she would just explain to him why she did what she did.

At the BBD office Jeremy explains to Waverly that the second victim was the person who is trivia night’s most recent winner. This definitely seems to be centered around trivia night somehow. Waves realizes both victims brains are missing.

Cut to a gross-looking man eating a brain sandwich, who tells the woman behind him he’s going to need several more brains before a coughing fit.

Tensions rise between Jeremy and Waverly when they’re filling Wynonna in on what’s going on with the murders. Jeremy and Wynonna think a demon is behind it, Waves thinks it’s a human, and both tiny queers hurl insults at each other centered around trivia night. They’re interrupted when a citizen comes into the Sheriff’s office looking for help.

The man said he witnessed some sort of domestic abuse and that the car they drove off in had flames on it. Wynonna knows exactly where to look to find where this guy lives and takes Waves with her to track him down. The man is left with Jeremy, who he tells something strange; the abusive man told him to eat shit, and then he went and did it. He doesn’t know why he did it, but he did.

The Earp sister’s track down the man, Doug (Ennis Esmer), and we discover he is the brain eating man. While he bores Wynonna with the details on sleet, Waves sneaks off and finds the woman we saw with Doug earlier. Waverly thinks she’s being abused and tries to help, but the woman wants nothing more than to play on her phone. Wynonna thinks Doug, who insists on being called Demon Kuru, is the demon, but we hear him call the woman Genie (Nikki Duval) when Wynonna begins to finger Peacemaker. Doug wishes Wynonna would die as soon as Waves and Genie enter, and reaches out for her. Wyn and Waves keep them apart and Doug bolts from the house.

Back at the BBD office Wynonna is trying to help Genie, thinking she is still the victim in the scenario. That is, until she sets Peacemaker on the table and it starts glowing. Now she knows who the real demon is, the Genie. Genie explains that it’s not her fault that she’s been killing people, she’s just granting Kuru’s wishes, which is her job. They put her in a cell to try to protect her from Doug, and she reveals what his motivation is; he wants to be the smartest person in Purgatory so he’s killing the smartest people and eating their brains. Wynonna puts a few things together and realizes the genie can only grant Doug’s wishes if they are touching. Now they just need to keep them separate to stop the killing. I’m sure that will be super easy…not!

Jeremy pulls Wynonna aside and tells her what Kuru really is, not a demon but a disease you get from eating brains. Jeremy tries to leave Wynonna to go to trivia night when a light bulb goes off in Wynonna’s head. Trivia night is how Doug is finding his victims! Doug must have wished for trivia night to find the best brains in Purgatory. They come up with a plan where Wynonna stays with Genie and everyone else goes to trivia night to take Doug down.

At the Homestead, Nicole is still feeling down about losing the Sheriff election and what she did to Doc. A few minutes with Waverly seems to cheer her up a bit, but it’s obvious she is still very bothered.

Chicken Kicker | Waverly and Nicole enter Shorty’s ready to take down Doug, but are thrown off when someone calls Nicole Chicken Kicker. Several men start acting like chickens and Nicole looks ready to bolt when Nedley gets them to stop. Nicole tries to leave once trivia begins, but because of the wish she can’t. She decides to hide in the basement.

Trivia begins and Waves, Jeremy, and Doc are all kicking ass. All it takes is one wrong answer to lose, but it seems like they know every one. But after SEVERAL rounds, Doc finally gets one wrong, though he would argue he was correct. But now that Doc has been eliminated he realizes that Doug is not there, it’s just them in the bar.

Wynonna and Genie are bonding over men when Genie’s phone rings and Wynonna decides to get it for her. When Wyn turns back around Doug is in the cell with Genie. That’s when we learn that one of his wishes was to be able to walk through walls. Then, while touching Genie, he wishes for Wynonna to open the cell, which she does. She asks him why he’s not at trivia night, and he tells her that he’s realized he needs street smarts too. He wants her brain. Uh-oh.

Back at trivia night, Doc is trying to convince Jeremy and Waves to leave and go help Wynonna, but the wish magic is very strong. They can’t fight it off and keep playing, they’re the last two contenders. Doc tries to leave, but just like Nicole, he can’t. Someone must lose for the wish to end.

Wynonna puts herself on a table in the morgue and Doug wishes for a knife, he’s ready to get the job done. But he keeps coughing, a lot.

Doc finds Nicole in the basement of the bar, and together they come up with a plan. They need to distract Waverly or Jeremy so the other can win. Nicole decides they need Chicken Kicker. She goes upstairs and finds Rachel, she needs a video she knows Rachel has. Nicole connects to the bar’s bluetooth and plays the video for everyone to watch.

In the video, a very drunk Nicole punts a chicken after she lost the election to be Sheriff. It’s pretty hilarious and embarrassing. And it works, the video distracts Waverly long enough for Jeremy to win trivia night. He has the biggest brain in Purgatory. Then the spell immediately ends.

Back in the morgue, Doug is getting ready to kill Wynonna and wishes for a large knife. Before he can go through with it, Doug drops dead. The Kuru disease killed him just in time, which Genie apparently knew was going to happen. Doc runs in to save Wynonna, but it’s clear she doesn’t need the help now.

Jeremy and Waves are drinking to celebrate Jeremy’s win, and Nicole and Doc finally discuss what happened. She apologizes for the deal she made with the Clanton’s and tells him that she knew he’d be able to handle whatever it was. Doc gives Nicole the courage to address everyone in the bar, she’s going to take the Sheriff position. Welcome back, Sheriff Haught!

Wynona confronts Genie at the Sheriff’s office, she knows Genie really does find pleasure in the killing. She needs to make sure it doesn’t happen in Purgatory anymore, so Wynonna uses Peacemaker. Bye bye Genie. But before she pulls the trigger, the demon said she could stop what’s coming. What is coming?
