“Wynonna Earp” Midseason Premiere Recap: Cupid’s Glitter

Wynonna Earp is finally back on SYFY with the rest of what hopefully will not be their final season. The episode shows us what an unplanned bachelorette party thrown by Wynonna is like, and how it results in everyone lusting for each other. ‘Love’s All Over’ was written by Shelley Scarrow and directed by Paolo Barzman. Here’s what went down!

Engagement Party | The episode kicks off with Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) demon hunting in the woods while drinking when she stumbles upon Amon (Noam Jenkins) drinking the blood of a dead moose. He’s impressed she found Peacemaker, and she gets ready to shoot him with it. We also find out that one month has passed since Wynonna reunited with her gun.

Everyone else is at Shorty’s celebrating Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole’s (Katherine Barrell) engagement after Nicole found the couch from their first kiss. We find out Doc (Tim Rozon) and Wynonna are still having issues after she killed Holt by shooting him in the back. Nedley (Greg Lawson) may no longer be Sheriff, but he’s now the owner of Shorty’s thanks to Chrissy, and he’s keeping Reaper Billy (Billy Bryk) in the basement.

Back in the woods, Wynonna and Amon try to out-sass each other while he convinces her not to kill him. She lets him go, and has a moment with Peacemaker, enjoying the power she gets from the gun.

At Shorty’s, Doc promises Waverly he will build her an altar for the wedding. Wynonna walks in and kills his vibes so Doc leaves. Waverly is angry at her sister for being hours later to the engagement party, so Wynonna tries to play it off as if she was planning a bachelorette party.

Girls Night Out | Wynonna’s idea of a girls night out is taking her gay sister and her fiancé to a strip club on a night when it’s men dancing. Waverly and Nicole are less than impressed. Nicole gets dragged to the bar for shots by another bride celebrating, leaving Waverly with her sister. The pair discuss the wedding plans, and Waverly drops that Nicole would like a small wedding, nothing fussy, but apparently Waverly has a wedding scrapbook that she’s had since she was a child. Wynonna tells her sister to speak up for what she wants just as a new dancer comes to the stage, Demetri (Christopher Jacot). Demetri is dressed as a cowboy, but when he turns around Waverly notices strange scars between his shoulder blades.

At Shorty’s, Nedley decides to hire Rachel as his bar back since she’s not in school and he needs the help. But he warns her to stay out of the basement.

After his set, Demetri and Waverly have a chat about love. He doesn’t believe in it, she does. He wants to make a bet with her, and when he walks away he sneaks something into her pocket.

Love Glitter | After the strip club Waverly and Nicole stop by the Sheriff’s office looking for a marriage license. Instead they are met with the homophobic Bunny Loblaw (Jann Arden). After trading insults Nicole finds a heart-shaped piece of glitter on her shoulder. She flicks it up then looks at Waverly, and suddenly she is all horned-up and ready to jump her fiancé’s bones. Waverly swats Nicole’s hands away from her while she gets the marriage license and shake’s Bunny’s hand. As the couple is leaving Bunny notices a piece of heart-shaped glitter on her hand. She looks up and sees Waverly, and suddenly she seems to be madly in love/lust with Waverly too.

After leaving the Sheriff’s office Waverly goes to the Glory Hole to try to negotiate a day of peace with Amon for her wedding. While there he finds a piece of heart-shaped glitter on him and also falls in love/lust with Waverly as she leaves. On her way out Doc stops her to talk about what happened to Margot Clanton, and decides someone needs to find out what happened to Cleo (Savannah Basley).

At the Homestead, Nicole is looking through Waverly’s wedding scrapbook when Waverly returns home. Nicole is still acting strange and overly affectionate towards Waves, and tries to come up with a wedding hashtag. Even testing out #WayHaught! Bunny suddenly arrives to protest Waverly marrying Nicole, because she wants to be with her. Waverly nope’s Bunny and sends her packing immediately by telling her she’ll call her later.

Wynonna has been passed out in the bed of her truck but heard the Waves/Bunny encounter and is impressed by her sister’s game. Waverly realizes she made a bad bet at the strip club. Wynonna thinks Amon is behind this, but Waverly has another theory.

Doc goes to Magpie Ranch to see what’s up with the remaining Clanton. He finds Margot’s decaying body sitting out in a rocking chair in the sun, and Cleo hiding nearby. She begs him to kill her, but he keeps his promise to her brother. Then Doc notices a small piece of heart-shaped glitter on his shoulder and brushes it off. When he looks up he suddenly realizes Cleo is the most beautiful person he has ever seen and flirts with her.

Wynonna goes to the Glory Hole to confront Amon when she finds a piece of the magical love glitter on her shoulder, flicks it off then looks at Amon. She’s suddenly overcome with an overwhelming desire to sleep with the demon.

In the meantime, Waverly finds Demetri in his hotel room and confronts him about what’s been happening. He reveals that it’s his spell on the glitter making everyone fall in love, but Waverly has been doing it unintentionally. Whoever the person sees after they find the glitter is the person they go all in on.

Back at the Glory Hole, Wynonna is chasing Amon around trying to get him to sleep with her. But the demon is refusing because he’s still going all in on Waverly thanks to the glitter.

Demetri reveals to Waverly that he’s a Cupid, which explains the wing scars she saw at the strip club. She tries to give him back the glitter, but he refuses and says she has to pass the glitter on to someone else by choice. She can’t bury the glitter or try to get rid of it in another way.

Wynonna and Waves meet back up at the Homestead and Waverly fills her sister in on what she’s learned. Wynonna seems a little too curious about the glitter, and we soon find out why. She steals the glitter from her sister, probably with plans to use it on Amon.

Glitter Bomb | The moment Wynonna and Waves enter Shorty’s Waverly is bombarded by all her admirers who are fighting for her attention. Wynonna tells Nedley to get Bunny drunk, but leaves a piece of glitter on him. Now all he wants is Bunny’s love. But Bunny is instead playing a love song on guitar for Waverly.

Back at Magpie Ranch, Doc and Cleo continue their discussion about the Clanton’s and the Earp’s, and even though he’s been glitter-drugged, he isn’t over-the-top with his gestures. His seem very sweet, and Cleo seems to be genuinely enjoying his company.

At Shorty’s, it turns into karaoke chaos and Waverly has to sneak away to call Doc. Rachel seizes the moment to go down into the basement.

Doc gets the call from Waves and realizes what’s going on, but before he leaves he finds out about the covenant Nicole made with Margot.

Upstairs, Doc has arrived and is shortly followed by Demetri, who Waves tricked into getting there. At the same time Wynonna stands on a table and accidentally spills the glitter over everyone [except Demetri and Waverly]. Now everyone is in love with each other and are all dancing with each other. Even Doc and Wynonna seem to be happy with each other again. Demetri reveals to Waves his spit is the cure, and that Amon is the one who broke his heart and ruined love for him. Demetri agrees to take the Cupid power back if Waves helps, and it’s Waverly so of course she does!

Down in the basement, Rachel realizes Reaper Billy is being kept there and he tells her that he wants to go home.

Upstairs, Waverly and Demetri get to work shooting spit balls at everyone’s butts to de-love spell them. Everyone is a little confused after, but most are in good spirits. Demetri heads out, but not before telling Waverly why he picked her; because he had never seen someone so in love before.

Dinner | Cleo has cut her mother’s body up with a chainsaw and decides to feed her to the family’s reaper’s. This is how she chose to avenge her brother, Billy.

Bunny is very drunk, but finally gives Nicole and Waverly a compliment and approves of their love. Then she gets Nedley to drive her home. Could there be a future romance brewing?

Wynonna goes to the Glory Hole after the engagement party and finally gets what she’s wanted all episode; sex with Amon. We see him eye Peacemaker suspiciously when she takes it off.

Reaper Billy returns home to his sister, Rachel must have freed him. Cleo wants take back what it theirs.
