“Wynonna Earp” Recap: Things Get Loopy

Things are getting even more strange in Purgatory in the most recent episode of Wynonna Earp. Waverly has Bulshar’s ring stuck on her finger, and Wynonna and Doc were last seen in the barn with Bulshar blowing some sort of dust on them. ‘Undo It,’ was written by Brendon Yorke and directed by April Mullen.

New Powers | Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole (Katherine Barrell) are trying very hard to get Bulshar’s ring off of Waverly’s finger, but it won’t budge. They see a jeweler, Derek (Dylan Roberts), who tries to cut if off, but that only reveals the hidden inscription Paradise. Derek seems to know something about this ring, because he suddenly becomes much more interested in it. Thankfully, Nicole gets a call on her radio about activity at the Gardner house, so they leave to check it out.

They arrive at the Gardner house expecting to find Kate, who has left town for now, but instead find Mercedes (Dani Kind)!!! That’s right, the baddest bitch around is back, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! She has her face back, sort of, but it’s covered in scars and flesh that looks half-rotten. Suddenly, Derek the Jeweler bursts in, demanding the ring. He’s a revenant and he wants to give it to Bulshar. Derek threatens to use his diamond-cutting powers to harm Nicole and Mercedes, so Waverly does the only thing she can think of, grab his face. Because of the ring, Waverly actually MELTS DEREK’S FACE.

Just a bit later, Waverly tells Mercedes she’s still beautiful and caresses the side of her face. Mercedes then makes several sex jokes aimed towards Waverly and Nicole, then hands Waves a Niagara Falls oven mitt to wear over her hand so she doesn’t accidentally melt any more faces. Nicole suggests they try looking into demon magic to get the ring off, so Waves calls Jeremy (Varun Saranga) for help. But Jeremy can’t look into it now, because he’s found something very Bulshar-y in the forest. The girls head out to meet him and investigate.

Groundhog Day | Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) and Doc (Tim Rozon) wake up in the barn together, in bed, and appear to have just had a fun night together. They seem to have worked things out, but how? And what about Bulshar and that dust he blew on them? Wynonna tells Nicole to leave them alone when she comes inquiring about them, then they pair go for a walk through the woods. But not before we see the truth. They are under some sort of trance or spell in the barn, with Bulshar’s stupid bee keepers surrounding them. The pleasant walk through the woods they think they are taking together is really a nightmare march to Bulshar’s intended destination. Peacemaker zaps Wynonna back to reality and she realizes what’s happening. She fights, but is once again overtaken by Bulshar (Jean Marchand) and his dust.

When she wakes up, Wynonna is in the basement of Shorty’s. She goes upstairs and sees whiskey on the bar, but when she goes for it she’s shot in the heart with an arrow and dies. Miraculously, she awakens on the floor of the Shorty’s basement, ready to give it another go. But this time she is not alone, she can hear Doc and see his eyes projected on boxes in the room. He does not know where he is, only that he can’t really move. Wynonna seems to be stuck in her own version on Groundhog Day, where she keeps waking up in the basement of Shorty’s and must try to leave without dying. But after several attempts she is still not successful, and we can see that Doc is slowly being buried. Suddenly, the basement floor turns to lave and when Wynonna gets upstairs she is no longer at Shorty’s and is instead in the homestead. Doc is still with her, and she figures out he’s buried under the floorboards. She goes to the barn to get a crowbar, but instead she finds Bobo (Michael Ecklund). She kills him with Peacemaker, but when she returns to the homestead she realizes she has fought and killed Bobo several times already, and Doc won’t last much longer. This time she tries going without Peacemaker. Wynonna and Bobo still kill each other, but they talk as they bleed out. Bobo has given up, Bulshar has worn him down so much. When Wynonna wakes up in the homestead, she makes one last attempt for Doc, after they share a heartfelt moment, and finds herself face to face with Bulshar and a red door.

Wynonna tries to kill Bulshar with Peacemaker, but he tells her that he created the curse which designed Peacemaker to only kill revenants, which he is not. He reveals that Peacemaker is the tower on the tarot card, and that Wynonna must give it to him willingly for him to enter the Garden. Wynonna storms inside and gets Doc out from under the floorboards. Together, they go outside to face Bulshar. The villain lets the Earp heir think Peacemaker really does hurt him and lets her shoot him again, making him dissolve and float away like Voldemort. Doc and Wynonna go through the red door and are back in the barn, seemingly in the real world, right where Bulshar blew the dust on them the first time. They think they’ve broken the curse, but when Wynonna opens the door to leave she wakes up, back in the basement of Shorty’s. Back to square one. She’s breaking at this point, which is why Bulshar appears to her and reveals he’s just been toying with her. He takes her to Doc and Waverly’s graves and makes her believe she dug them. He then tells her she can spend the last of her time with them if she just gives him Peacemaker.

Uh-Oh | Nicole, Waverly, and Jeremy search through the woods for the Bulshar-y thing Jeremy spotted. They come across the staircase again, and think it’s probably the entrance to the Garden of Eden. Suddenly, they spot a hand sticking out of a pile of brush. It’s Bobo, and they free him and wake him from the trance he is in. He immediately tells them that Bulshar has Wynonna and Doc somewhere else in the trees, but it’s clear that Bobo is still very broken from this experience. The Unkillable Gay Squad hustle through the forest and find Wynonna and Doc. They free them, but can’t wake them from the trance. Suddenly they both wake up, and Doc immediately asks Wynonna if she gave Peacemaker to Bulshar. She did.

Later that night, the Earp Sister’s catch up by the fireplace, where Waverly reveals her ring troubles to her big sister. They laugh through their bad luck and it’s a wonderful moment amidst all the chaos.

At the Gardner house, Mercedes looks in the mirror and realizes her face is healed! She immediately thinks of Waverly caressing her cheek, and thanks her friend for healing her.
