“Wynonna Earp” Recap: Even Gnomes Need Love

Keeping with tradition, the seventh episode of this season of Wynonna Earp gave us lots of WynHaught and alcohol! It also took us from laughter to tears in a matter of seconds. ‘I Fall to Pieces’ was written by Noelle Carbone and directed by Grant Harvey.

Mama and Doc Go On An Adventure | Doc (Tim Rozon) has been hiding away with Kate (Chantel Riley) for a week, undergoing the transformation process to becoming vampire. He’s still wearing Bulshar’s ring, but it begins to burn and reject him now that he’s changing. He ends up leaving and hiding the ring in the Earp barn, but Mama (Megan Follows) catches him, basically threatens him at gunpoint, then convinces him to drive her out of town because she needs to get away for a bit.

They begin by going to Ward and Willa’s graves and leaving flowers. They also discuss Mama’s past, including Ward and Julian, and she casually drops that she freed Bobo recently. Doc definitely was not happy about that last part, but that’s something he will have to deal with later. For now, he continues to help Mama.

Doc goes to Kate’s house to pack some things for Mama, including one of his pistols, and finds the ID’s of all the people she’s killed. She catches him and what starts out as a fight ends with her trying to convince Doc he made the right decision and that she’s the one for him.

Doc returns to Mama and gives her what he collected, including an ID that she can use as a new identity, but she refuses to take his pistol. She tells Doc that she is leaving to look for Julian and to protect her girls. Doc points out that Wynonna probably won’t see it that way, but neither Wynonna nor Doc can really judge a parent for leaving their child for that child’s safety.

BroTP | Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) and Charlie (Sebastian Pigott) are hooking up in a firetruck when Nicole (Katherine Barrell), Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), and all the on-duty firefighters come in the room so Nicole can campaign for Sheriff to them. Wynonna accidentally turns the siren in the truck on, alerting everyone to her presence and made for quite an awkward exit.

The trio head to the Sheriff’s station and discover the frat bros of the Omicron Tau Psi, or OTP, are in the drunk tank sobering up, loudly.

Nicole and Wynonna get an assignment from Nedley (Greg Lawson), clean out his supernatural artifacts closet. It turns out Nedley has been hiding away anything he feels could be supernatural in a closet in his office, and now he wants Nicole and Wynonna to work together to clean it out. Nicole also mentions that she has to meet with a city council member named Bunny Loblaw (Jann Arden) to try to get the city’s support for her as Sheriff.

Nicole takes the task from Nedley seriously and is trying to sort through artifacts, but Wynonna is not taking this seriously at all and is instead reading through Nedley’s old notes. She ends up finding a photo of young Nedley and a young girl. Nicole is annoyed Wynonna isn’t helping and tries to bait her into helping, but it doesn’t work out so well. Wynonna starts throwing things out of the closet, breaking several things, when she comes out with a mirror she’s about to break Nicole jumps in and the pair fight over it. The mirror ends up flying across the room, breaking several artifacts along with the mirror itself on its way down.

Somewhere in the distance, a large filthy man with a beard and red cap breaks out of a shed and heads out.

Wynonna and Nedley have a conversation at Shorty’s about Nicole, and he hints that she is the girl in the photo Wynonna found.

Later, Nicole is home and meets with the incorrigibly awful Bunny, who just happens to be allergic to cats. Nicole wants Bunny’s support for Sheriff, but Bunny won’t give it to her unless she tells her the truth about what’s really going on in Purgatory. She thinks she wants the truth about all the supernatural things occurring. Wynonna interrupts and Bunny actually declares that she would like to support Wynonna for sheriff. While Nicole and Wynonna step into the kitchen to bicker, Bunny looks out the window and sees the large man from the shed and passes out in terror. Nicole and Wynonna find her and, after going through her purse, wake her up and insist on taking her to the hospital. After Nicole puts Bunny in the back of her cruiser she turns away to talk to Wynonna and a couple of the OTP bros steal the cruiser with Bunny inside. Wynonna calls Waverly and Jeremy (Varun Saranga) to track the cruiser, and it leads them straight to a rowdy biker bar. Nicole tries to use her spare key to open the door, but it breaks off. Jeremy points out to Waverly how awful Wynonna and Nicole’s luck has been all day.

Nicole and Wynonna decide their best option is to go into the bar, find the OTP bros and get the keys, then get out. But things never go as planned on Wynonna Earp. The bar is full of revenants, and they find Wynonna and Haught pretty fast. Wynonna challenges one to a drinking challenge, they win and they can go, they lose and the revenants can kill them.

Several shots in and Nicole and the revenant are both clearly drunk, but Wynonna looks fine. After the revenant pukes, he discovers Wynonna was cheating by spitting her shots into her beer [meaning Nicole actually won], and the revenants chase them.

The pair flee through the forest [they’re handcuffed together and Nicole is wasted so it was pretty clumsy] but are caught and almost killed when the large bearded man from the shed stabs one revenant with giant gardening shears and declares that WynHaught owe him a wife. Confused and scared, they run and make it back to the Sheriff’s Department followed closely behind by Mr. Tall Dirty and Hairy. Waverly and Jeremy discovered the broken mirror and were working on fixing it before they arrived, and finish putting it together but the man is still there, so they know they must fix another artifact.

They find a broken gnome and realize that that’s what this dude is! Waverly and Jeremy piece the broken gnome back together while Wynonna and Nicole talk each other up to the gnome, trying to sell the other as his new wife. The broken gnome gets fixed and they realize it’s a lady gnome. Mr. Gnome sees it and realizes it’s his wife Monique and she’s fixed! He no longer needs a new wife, so he takes Monique and leaves.

Later, Bunny comes to the department to tell Wynonna she’s still not supporting Nicole for Sheriff, so Wynonna really goes to town and stands up for her friend. By the end, Bunny reluctantly agrees to support Nicole before leaving. And Nicole heard the whole thing. The BroTP share a sweet moment over beers, and Wynonna ends up revealing the photo of young Nedley and Little Nicole.

Destined for Purgatory | Nicole goes to Nedley with the photo, and he reveals the truth to her. He found her that night after the massacre. He kept tabs on her and made sure he offered her a job as soon as she left the police academy. She tells him that everything good that she has in life has happened because she returned to Purgatory. The two have such a lovely father-daughter bond that I hope we continue to explore this season!

Bye-Bye | Wynonna returns home to find her sister crying over a letter from their mother, she’s left. She also left Wynonna a letter.

Later, Wynonna steps outside and finds Doc, who gives her Bulshar’s ring. Wynonna reads part of her mothers letter to him, a part where she warns her daughter about Doc. She wants to know why, and slaps him in order to get it out. He bares his fangs and growls at her, revealing to his love that he is a vampire. The scene is a heartbreaking masterpiece, and ends with Wynonna banning Doc from her house.

What a hilarious episode! WynHaught together is always a fun time!
