The Men of “The 100” Preview Season 6’s ‘Fresh Start’ & ‘Hardcore Sci-Fi’

wondercon 2019 cw 100 seasson 6 preview richard harmon sachin sahel shannon kook jr bourne jason rothenberg

Richard Harmon, Sachin Sahel, Shannon Kook, J.R. Bourne, and Jason Rothenberg were all in attendance at the WonderCon 2019 pressroom for The 100, and here is what we learned about the upcoming 6th season!

The characters are growing and evolving | Richard and Sachin both agree that this is a season of growth for everyone. “I think this season is a season of growth for everybody, quite exponentially,” says Harmon. “But growth,” says Sahel, “because it is literally a new world. So we’ve had to deal with a lot of new things that we’ve never had to deal with before.”

Monty and Harper’s wish for their friends to “do better” | Monty and Harper left messages for their friends as they grew old figuring out a solution for their people, and their final message to their friends was to do better than they had done in the past. But can they really do that? “They all have a chance, and I think that for Murphy,” says Harmon, “has a great deal of respect for Monty. He was one of his best friends. Murphy would never say that, but he was one of his best friends and he never got to say goodbye. He never got to say ‘thank you for saving my life’ at the end of season 5. So I think Murphy will take that to heart as his only way he can say ‘thank you.'”

Sachin thinks Jackson also has a chance to do better, especially after living in the bunker. “I think him being in a bunker for 6 years where they were eating people, I think this is a great chance to do better.”

Showrunner Jason Rothenberg talks on Clarke’s ability to do better. “Clarke is gonna try really hard to honor that, she wants to do better.”

Who is Russell | J.R. Bourne gave a little insight on his new character on the show, Russell, describing him as “charismatic.” Bourne also says, “I think him being unlike any other character that these guys have seen in the past 5 seasons, adds another element of uniqueness and challenge to The 100 gang. And then the society that I lead, it’s a much more peaceful environment and world than these guys have ever sort of come across in the whole 5 seasons.”

Fresh Start | Rothenberg described this season as a “fresh start”, because it is “thematically different, it looks different, the color palate is different, the way we shot it is different, they’re on a different world.” Jason also described this season as “hardcore sci-fi” with “much more sci-fi than it has been in the past.”

The 100 Season 6 premieres Tuesday, April 30 at 9pm on The CW.
