“Lucifer” Star Lesley-Ann Brandt and EPs Preview Mazikeen-Focused Standalone Episode

In tonight’s all-new episode of FOX’s Lucifer, titled, “Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith,” Mazikeen realizes that she is looking for more out of life and decides to head to Canada for a tricky case. Chloe however, becomes concerned when she feels that Maze is being deceived by a scheming conman.

OMFGTV spoke with actress Lesley-Ann Brandt along with the show’s Executive Producers this past spring about the installment — one of the four standalone episodes this season — that is somewhat tied into Maze’s bounty hunter background.

“[Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith] focuses only on Maze, and we get to really understand this poor demon who doesn’t have a soul,” Executive Producer Ildy Modrovich tells us. “Does she really not have a soul? What does that mean to have a soul? We spend a lot of time exploring that.”

Fellow EP Joe Henderson adds that the episode is much more action packed than a typical episode, “but still has incredible heart.”

Having a whole Lucifer hour focused on Mazikeen was exciting for Brandt who says it was “super cool” to lead an episode, and shares that fans will “really get to see 40 different sizes of Maze.”

Though she was pregnant at the time, Brandt says that it was “physically fun” filming the episode, and reveals how she managed to get through it all. “I was fighting and beating up boys, which was cool but hard,” she says. “But I was just wanting to get to lunch break. That was my motivation.”

Lesley-Ann Brandt says that the show’s ensemble is filled with “amazing talent,” adding, “to get to lead an episode yourself and have it be as fun and as nuanced as this episode is, I’m excited for you guys to see it.”

Lucifer, “Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith,” airs tonight at 8pm on FOX.
