Witches of East End Recap: The Mandragora and I
Witches of East End was action packed tonight! What an episode! Talk about thrilling! And funny! Which is hard to master when the tone calls for something else as a family of witches fight a Mandragora to save one of their own.
So the Beauchamps and Alex attempt to find Ingrid and unlink her from the Mandragora but when Joanna and Alex go searching for Ingrid, the two are attacked by the Mandragora and are trapped in the library! Ah! I love these types of mind trips! Being trapped gave Joanna and Alex the time to have a heart to heart and through this heated discussion, it is confirmed that Joanna pushed Alex away to protect her and all along, she didn’t have to. Wow. So viewers, after this exchange, do you want Alex to stick around?
Meanwhile, Frederick attempts to heal Ingrid’s friend, Hudson who was attacked by the Mandragora but Wendy, still suspicious of his works tells him to go. He stays but makes himself sparse until he’s needed. How humbling it must have been for that moment to have turned out to be when Wendy needed him most, the Mandragora ready to kill her but Frederick getting to and killing the Mandragora first once the spell was done over Ingrid.
Anyway, momentarily out of the Mandragora’s hypnosis, Ingrid comes home and freaks out, wanting so much for the memories of her time with the Mandragora to leave her. Not until Freya comes home later in the day from her task and everyone is hard at work on a spell to unlink Ingrid from the Mandragora does the action start up again. If only Ingrid can stay still while fire engulfing her entire body consumes the Mandragora spell. And it does! Victory!
Quite a bit happened before Freya was reunited with the family though. Earlier, when Freya went to Dash seeking help in saving Ingrid, she instead found herself being grilled by her former fiance about their relationship and the secret part Killian played in it. A nasty Dash, with a venom inside him that’s making him evil, reveals that he wants all of the Beauchamps dead. He leaps forward after Freya and Freya runs away for safety and time to find a way to defeat Dash. She ends up saving the day and ridding Dash of the venom. If it was that easy to save Dash, she needs to head on over to Killian’s and try to save him! If only someone knew about Killian. Killian’s powers have been growing and now he can hear people’s thoughts. But he can’t hear his wife, Eva’s. If only he could! Then he’d find out what Eva is up to, spiking his drinks and chanting spells while doing so… and wanting a baby from him! What?!
This week’s episode was very tense but also had just the right amount of humor which made this episode all the more entertaining. With the Mandragora defeated in episode six, do you think that the villain for the next few episodes will be Eva? Will what Dash said under the spell sink in for Freya? Will the promise (we don’t yet know what it is) that Frederick has made to his grandfather and still must complete come to light and make him public enemy number one? What conflicts do you want to see arise during the rest of this season?
Witches of East End airs Sundays at 9/8c on Lifetime.
