Witches of East End Recap: Old Friends, Fire, and Death

Witches of East End almost felt like a season finale with all of the death that we saw last night! With the bar set this high at the beginning of the season, something tells me the actual season two finale later this fall will blow everything we’ve seen in this series so far completely out of the water!

This week, when Dash questions Killian, we learn that Killian indeed doesn’t remember that Dash tried to kill him. It was hinted at before but now it’s been made clear just how clueless Killian is. It’s a good thing because the two unlock their powers together and Dash must confess their ties to magic. This leads to the two playing with fire and spells and that leads to repercussions neither of them could have ever anticipated. To be clear, yes, Killian almost died by his brother’s hands AGAIN.

Since Dash hates Freya, he calls on his new magic mentor, Ingrid for help but she’s in a trance, under a spell and doesn’t quite make it right away. When Ingrid wakes up in the middle of the woods, she goes straight for her phone without questioning why she’s in the middle if the woods. Maybe she’s looking for answers or to see how much time she’s lost this time around but all we see is her go straight to her text conversation with Dash. Her lack of concern in this moment seems off. Anyway, it’s interesting how Ingrid feeds on helping others and here she is feeding a succubus like creature. Interesting. Anyway, Ingrid helps Killian and Dash reverse the spell they cast but it’s not easy and it’s not pretty. Nothing is pretty. In fact, it gets worse.

A shape shifting, body feeding brother sister witch duo (hey, there’s Rachel Nichols from Syfy’s Continuum and fan favorite, Alias!), Ivar and Isis, who were friends with Freya and Frederick in another lifetime come back into the picture in search of the portal key. Victor was their first prisoner but not their last. They mention targeting Wendy but instead end up capturing Freya as well. Prisoner number two. Funny how Joanna is off limits to them as they are intimidated by her. With the news that Victor and Freya are in the hands of Ivar and Isis, Joanna goes to save her loved ones but Victor falls victim to Ivar and Isis’s evil ways and perish. What a terrible night for Beauchamp family. So, so sad!

Meanwhile, Wendy is on a date that isn’t very good but she won’t give up that easily.  Things keep happening that both make her cautious and the date worse but caution is this cat’s middle name and she won’t stop everything in her life just because something witchy is in the air. She’s fearless and smart and that’s a rare combination on TV. Unfortunately, she was unable to use her skills to help save her family as she was completely in the dark about the life or death situation happening across town. So how do you think Wendy will respond when she finds out what devastation Ivar and Isis have caused?

Witches of East End airs Sundays at 9/8c on Lifetime.
