It’s finally here. After a viral marketing website teased it, the first trailer for The Matrix Resurrections has arrived and it brings with it lots of questions.
The trailer begins with Neo (Keanu Reeves), looking more like John Wick than his science-fiction hero, in a therapist’s office asking Neil Patrick Harris if he’s crazy. From there on in, it’s a wild ride filled with action, trippy images, and Jefferson Airplane’s psychedelic classic, “White Rabbit.”
The film is directed by Lana Wachowski, co-director of the first three Matrix films, and also stars Carrie-Anne Moss returning as Trinity. Newcomers include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, and Brian J. Smith.
Visually, the film looks aesthetically different from the other films and the story is far more mysterious than even the first film’s. There seems to be plenty of cool action set pieces plus a stacked cast. Hardcore Matrix fans should definitely be intrigued by this one.
