Claws is a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness set in a South Florida nail salon. It follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures.
Claws is about good women caught in bad places with worse men. It’s the story of hardworking women trying to get by in this economy, set against the surreal, bright, gritty landscape of Florida and the luscious, absurd, extreme excesses of the crime world.

Claws: The Complete First Season stars Emmy® Award nominated actress Niecy Nash (Reno 911, Scream Queens), Carrie Preston (True Blood), Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Karrueche Tran (The Nice Guys), Jenn Lyon (Justified), Jack Kesy (The Strain, Ray Donovan), Kevin Rankin (Lucifer, Breaking Bad), Jason Antoon (No Ordinary Family, Kings), with Harold Perrineau (Lost, Sons of Anarchy, Oz), and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Under the Dome).

If there’s one thing to know about us, it’s that we love female-centric shows. Last summer there were no more than two of those buzz-worthy shows that premiered on cable — one on Lifetime, the other on TNT. The former was about what went on behind-the-scenes of a daytime talk show; the latter about a nail salon used as a front to launder money.
After just three episodes of the Lifetime series, we gave up and stopped watching it, while we were hooked and glued to our screens for the entirety of the season of TNT’s offering. That series is Claws, the uproarious and nail-biting new drama/comedy from Eliot Laurence.
Human trafficking, identity theft, adultery, aggravated assault and attempted murder are just some of the stories explored, courtesy of the “baddest bitches of Palmetto.”
The chemistry between the women is a joy to watch. You can really feel a sisterhood between them. But at the heart of the show, it’s the bond between Desna and Jennifer that stand out.
What the series does best is the way it’s able to keep you on the edge of your seat or in tears in one second, then have you laughing out loud the next. Claws has the perfect balance of drama and comedy, and its fantastic ensemble is able to play both with expert precision.
The season is a short 10 episodes, but the series uses that episode count to its advantage, using up each hour to further advance the story without feeling draggy. The season is incredibly fast-paced and will have you tuning into the next episode immediately. It’s the perfect show to binge when you have a free day of nothing to do.
Claws is a hilarious, heart-pounding series from beginning to end. It’s OMFGTV’s best new series of 2017.
