“WandaVision” Recap: Questioning Reality

This week’s “WandaVision” is interesting to say the least as the mystery starts to peel back and we get a cameo that I guarantee you won’t see coming! In “On a Very Special Episode,” Wanda and Vision struggle with parenthood, while outside, Monica tries to get through to Wanda. Vision begins to understand just what exactly is going on in Westview.

They Grow Up So Fast | We’re now in 1980s sitcom land, and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are now stressed out parents to twins Tommy and Billy, trying to get them to go to sleep. Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) shows up to help and at one point, asks Wanda if she should take it from the top, which Wanda writes off, but Vision finds odd. But both are quickly distracted when Tommy and Billy are suddenly five years old! Sure, why not?

The Maximoff Anomaly | Outside in the SWORD camp, SWORD Director Hayward reveals that nine days ago, Wanda stormed SWORD HQ and stole Vision’s corpse from the lab. They reason that she’s controlling the minds of everyone in Westview and is violating the Sokovia Accords in doing so, making her a threat.

Monica (Teyonah Parris), Jimmy (Randall Park) and Darcy (Kat Dennings) realize that Wanda is using her powers to warp everything around her into the suburban sitcom life, including Monica’s bulletproof vest she was wearing when she got sucked in, which is now 70s bulletproof clothes.

This Is My Home | Monica pilots a drone into Westview, while Wanda, Billy and Tommy are looking for a lost dog named Sparky that they found. Wanda sees the drone, but Hayward gives the order to fire a missile from the drone at Wanda before the picture goes static. Wanda herself then storms out of the bubble surrounding Westview and tosses the drone at the camp, where she is immediately met with men with guns.

Monica tries to get through to her, but Wanda warns them that Westview is her home now before she controls the minds of the gunmen to point their weapons at Hayward. Wanda goes back into Westview, where Vision, while at work, finds an email from Darcy in the 80s computer about what Wanda is doing. He then uses his phasing powers on a coworker, who starts rambling that Wanda is doing something to him.

Wanda returns to looking for Sparky with Billy and Tommy, but the dog ends up dead after eating poisonous leaves! Well, that got dark! Billy and Tommy plead with Wanda to use her powers to fix the dog, but she says that she can’t undo death. That night, Vision confronts Wanda about what he heard at work and the two have a fight as Vision accuses her of controlling everything, which she denies.

There is a knock on the door, which surprises them both and they have good reason to be surprised. It’s Pietro! But not Aaron Taylor-Johnson- it’s Evan Peters from “X-Men: Days of Future Past!” Does this mean the X-Men are coming???

“WandaVision” is now streaming on Disney+
