SYFY’s Van Helsing definitely took the gore up a level on the most recent episode, ‘Hunted Down’. In the episode we see Scab join the Sisterhood, Mohamad escape the underground bunker, and Axel rescue some people. The bloody episode was written by showrunner Neil LaBute and directed by Leslie Hope.
Escape | While trapped in the underground bunker living off of mice, Mohamad (Trezzo Mahoro) begins to see/hallucinate Cara (Emily Haine). She tells him to follow the mice if he wants to get out, so that’s exactly what he does. He digs his way out and sets off to kill Sam (Christopher Heyerdahl).
Meanwhile, Sam is hunting with Felix (Bzhaun Rhoden) and take down part of a group of humans. Felix naps after the feast, and Sam sees the Dark Figure (Amanda May) who tells him he must now kill the one he loves. Sam assumes she means Felix so he crawls over to his pal, cozies up to him, then strangles him. The Dark Figure laughs and tells him that Felix is not the one he loves. When Sam realizes it means Mohamad he begins to scream and wail, he does not want to kill Mo.

Spare Tire | Axel (Jonathan Scarfe) left his group alone for a few minutes and when he returns he finds it under attack by a group of Day Walkers. He tells everyone to start fighting, but they do lose Kristina (Claire Smithies) to the vamps, who turn her. Axel is pissed his group started cooking and attracted the vamps, now they’ve got to quickly leave so more don’t find them. As they continue on their journey to Denver they come across a group who’s vehicle has a busted tire. Axel offers to help, but things turn heated when the leader insists his entire group stays with him to head to San Francisco to catch a ship to Hawaii. He pulls a gun on Axel so Axel defends himself by throwing the dagger Scarlett gave him into the mans throat, killing him. The rest of the mans group decides to head to Denver with Axel.
More Sisters | Scab (Rowland Pidlubny) desperately wants to become a part of the Sisterhood. The Sisters decide to let him join them, but they must first cut off his manhood. After this happens, he is one of them.
The Sisterhood later hears the call of Scarhead (Teach Grant) and head to see what he wants. Ivory (Jennifer Cheon) confronts Scarhead about why he called them there, and he tells her about Denver. Now that she knows there is a city full of humans who think they are safe, she doesn’t need Scarhead around so she rips his heart out. On cue, the rest of the Sisters begin fighting the rest of the Day Walkers and removing their manhoods so they could also become Sisters and fight for Ivory. All the while, Ivory is watching and enjoying Scarhead’s heart.
