Van Helsing‘s 12th episode picks up right where the previous one left off, with Vanessa (Kelly Overton) and Mohamad (Oliver Mahoro Smith) unable to mourn their friends death because Sam (Christopher Heyerdahl) has become a vampire and is now hunting them. This episode checks in with almost every character that has survived on the show, showing multiple viewpoints of events. This is OMFGTV‘s recap of Van Helsing’s 12th episode, “He’s Coming.”
“Fear is for humans.” | Julius (Aleks Paunovic) finally returns to our screens in a very Julius way, with Magdalene (Gwynyth Walsh) tied up and looking for answers. In an attempt to please Julius, Magdalene tells him what she learned from Doc, how she’s now immune to their bites. Magdalene continues talking, saying she knows things and that she would do anything for Julius. When he asks if she would die for him, she replies yes. Julius wastes no time shooting her through the heart with an arrow, then orders his minions to burn down Eden and to hunt for all its inhabitants.
When Julius returns to his camp he speaks to his mother, telling her he was summoned by Dmitri (Paul Johansson). His mother warns him that he will die if he goes to The Citadel to face Dmitri. Julius knows they will all die if he doesn’t follow orders, so he leaves for The Citadel.
Dmitri is not pleased with Julius, but decides to spare his life. During their exchange Dmitri reveals his true plans; he wishes to resurrect the elders and allow them to live for thousands of years.
There’s a Traitor Among Them | Taka (Ryan Robbins) tells Sheema (Naika Toussaint) the plan to get the rest of their people (The Resistance) in to help; they are going to cut off the power. He tells her to just be ready and that she will know what she needs to know. Later, Taka meets with a few others to discuss their plan and Sheema has followed him there to spy. Taka says he needs to get out so he can tell their people on the outside the plan. As if on cue, a mysterious vampire walks in and unlocks a grate, letting Taka out to meet with the others.
Flesh (Vincent Gale) escapes Eden along with the rest of its inhabitants, but is unfortunately separated and captured. Who is he captured by? None other than Brendan (Terry Chen). Brendan has managed to survive after being kicked out of the hospital and is now taking Flesh to meet with someone. Taka actually. Taka knows Flesh was with Vanessa and wants to know where she is.
“From here on out, shit gets real.” | Finally, onto our heroes! Vanessa and Mohamad are on the run from Sam, but escape by crossing a river. Even as a vampire Sam is afraid of water. He promises to find and kill them, but Vanessa and Mohamad are safe for the moment. That is, until Mohamad realizes he has cut his arm, leaving a trail of blood for Sam to follow!
Vanessa and Mohamad arrive at a cabin in the middle of the woods that Mohamad remembers from his time as a Boy Scout. Once safe inside, they draw a map and plan out how they will rescue Sheema and look for Dylan. Vanessa asks Mohamad what Sam had meant right before they left him to die, what truth he was talking about. Mohamad just brushes it off as him trying to make them second guess what they were about to do.
Later that night Vanessa begins to second-guess their plan. She is worried Sheema may not be there anymore and would rather go straight to Denver to look for her daughter than risk being caught again. Mohamad reassures her that their plan is the best plan of action, and that Dylan may actually be at the refugee camp with his sister. The next morning they continue further, until they are attacked by Sam and forced to blind him with a flare in an attempt to kill him.
“Not him, he’s mine.” | Before he attacks them, Sam tracks Vanessa and Mohamad’s scents to the cabin and finds the map of where they are going. Did they accidentally leave it out or did Mohamad do it on purpose fo rhis old friend? After he is blinded, Sam is captured by Julius’s crew and brought before his mother. She discovers he was with Vanessa before he turned and decides to spare his life. She feeds him (a human), then attempts to seduce him for answers about Vanessa and Mohamad. He agrees to tell her whatever she wants to know about Vanessa, but not Mohamad. She then draws a knife to his ear and face and tells him that he will tell her everything she wants to know.
When Julius later returns he first visits his mother to let her know he is still alive, but discovers that she has been murdered. Her knife is sticking out of her chest, and one of her fingers is missing. I guess Sam still likes to keep souvenirs as a vampire.
“This is a blood farm.” | Vanessa and Mohamad sneak into the camp posed as part of The Red Brigade, but not before Mohamad expresses how nervous he is, and that he has so much he wants to say to her. As soon as they get inside they have to split up, Mohamad looking for his sister and Vanessa looking for her daughter. Vanessa stumbles across a room full of large bags hung from the ceiling, each holding a person being bled. She goes after the vampire that is playing butcher and really kicks his ass. I bet he wishes he didn’t mess with her!
Vanessa sneaks into a bunker and wakes a woman looking for Dylan. The older woman informs her that the vampires don’t keep children there, just the old and sick. She tells Vanessa that this place is a blood farm. An alarm begins to sound so Vanessa returns to the car to wait for Mohamad. She seems him standing quite a distance away and goes to him. Dmitri comes out, revealing Mohamad has betrayed her, and says that she will make a great prize. Vanessa tries to attack, but he is too fast and too strong for her. He picks her up by her throat, strangling her. He tells her she looks just like her mother, then she passes out.
Oh no! Vanessa has been captured by Dmitri, and he knew her mom? Speaking of moms, how will Julius react when he finds out Sam is behind his mothers murder? Did you know Mohamad was going to betray Vanessa, or were you just as shocked as we were? Let us know in the comments below what you think will happen in Friday’s finale!
