The 100’s Devon Bostick Talks Freaky, Eerie Mount Weather

The 100‘s fan favorite and “Goggle Boy” Jasper (Devon Bostick) has gone through a lot in Season 1. Not only did he survive being speared in the pilot (Fun Fact: Jasper was originally supposed to die in Season 1), he (very briefly) got the girl of his dreams, went through a lot to save his people, and went on a pretty bad acid-like trip. All this, and he still remains one of the most popular characters on the show.

OMFGTV and a slew of other outlets caught up with Bostick at the San Diego Comic-Con where he offered up scoop on what’s to come for his character.

“[Jasper] was with the group when the gas canisters came in and the Mountain Men raided us,” Bostick explains. “It’s pretty fair to say that Jasper’s in Mount Weather. How he’s going to deal with that, I can’t quite say. He’s gone through a lot, so it could be really good or really bad.”

It’s no wonder that a lot of Jasper fans are also fans of Bostick, his portrayer, as they’re almost one in the same. “I love Jasper. He’s pretty similar to me, aside from the PTSD thing. He’s a lighthearted kid and likes to have fun. It was cool to have to play that transition from this sweet boy to this nutcase who becomes this unsuspecting hero because of the courageous acts he commits which are ridiculously dangerous and stupid of him to do. It’s fun playing that part, but I enjoy bringing back that heart that Jasper has. I always say the reason he survived that spearing is because nothing can beat Jasper’s heart. No spear can break Jasper’s heart. That’s corny, but I’m going to go with that.”

And speaking of becoming a hero, Bostick wishes his character got the credit he deserves. “I just wish Jasper had a little recognition for these crazy things he does for everyone. [And] he never gets the girl!

Luckily for Jasper (and unlucky for Monty), that will soon change when the new season comes along and someone will catch his eye. “There might be a possible love interest for Jasper in Season 2,” he reveals. “A new one, new blood.”

“I think what’s cool about Season 2 is we’re going to explore a world that we’ve never seen before,” Bostick previews. “We’re going to see what Mount Weather is. Within Mount Weather, there’s so many corridors and twists and turns. There’s going to be things in there that will be very freaky and eerie. It’s just cool that we’re exploring new parts of the world. What I love about the show is that it takes place on earth like we’ve never seen it before and we’re only in this small pocket. Once we start to explore the other pockets, what else is out there? And that’s what I think we’ll get a taste of in Season 2.”

The 100 Season 2 premieres Wendesday, October 22, at 9pm on The CW.
