Teen Wolf Recap: Showdown

teen-wolf-312-lunar-eclipse-recap

The winter finale of Teen Wolf was full of intensity, tension, and all around craziness. The storyline of the Darach came to a close and a couple fan-favorite characters met their untimely end. Let’s go over a some of the events that transpired during the bloodbath that was “Lunar Eclipse.”

Scott (Tyler Posey), Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) and Allison (Crystal Reed) undergo an ancient and extremely dangerous ritual to help them find the Nemeton, which is where their respective parents were being imprisoned by the Darach (Haley Webb). It’s a race against the clock to save them as the grotesque monster whips up a storm which causes the Nemeton to slowly collapse, ultimately crushing and killing their parents inside it. With seconds to spare, Stiles, Allison, and Isaac (Daniel Sharman) locate their parents and all is good in the world.

Meanwhile, back at Derek’s (Tyler Hoechlin) loft, Kali (Felisha Terrell) stops by looking for Derek to kill him once and for all. Unfortunately for her, Jennifer a.k.a. Julia a.k.a the Darach has other plans for the barefoot beauty and crashes in (literally) from the ceiling and with her very awesome powers, causes the shards of glass to levitate, point toward Kali and strike her. Yup, she dead. #SadFace

Later, she convinces Derek to join forces with her to kill Deucalion (Gideon Emery) during the lunar eclipse when the werewolves become powerless. The ultimate showdown between Evil and Evil-er goes down and in a moment of weakness, Jennifer springs a wolfsbane protection barrier around her, but when Scott breaks that barrier, Deucalion seizes that opportunity to kill her — and he does with one swoop of his hand right across her throat. Yup, she dead too. #SuperSadFace

Scott and Derek decide not to kill Deucalion and rather set him free to give him another chance now that he sees the world differently (his eye sight was restored). He’ll totally be back to wreak havoc again in season 5, right?

BEST BITS

 • This is the first time we’ve seen Deucalion transform into his were-self and wow, it was probably the most menacing werewolf we’ve ever seen on the show! Very creepy!

 • We loved seeing Scott, Stiles, and Allison revisit their past — the show’s pilot, to be exact — during the ancient ritual they went through. Watching Scott watch his younger self looking for his inhaler brought back so much memories. And it’s great that they were able to write in who was in the car that almost ran Scott over that night! How great was it that it was Allison and her mother (Miss you so much, Ms. Argent!) that were in that vehicle? Oh, Teen Wolf writers, you guys are good!
