Teen Wolf Recap: Battle of the Beasts

teen-wolf-305-frayed-recap

Teen Wolf‘s latest installment titled “Frayed” was a puzzle piece of an episode with large pieces of information being revealed at the beginning while the use of flashbacks slowly explained how all that stuff came to be. At first we weren’t sure if some of all the sequences presented in the episode were dreams or “what if’s” but everything did happen.

While on a bus to a meet, Boyd (Sinqua Walls) and Isaac (Daniel Sharman) are extremely antsy and keep trying to prevent themselves from beasting out and killing Ethan (Charlie Carver) a few rows back; Ethan keeps looking at his phone every few minutes hoping to receive a message; Scott (Tyler Posey) has a massive gash on the side of his chest that is taking forever to heal; and Scott mentions that Derek is dead. Now let’s get into what happened the previous night.

Derek (Tyler Hoechlin), Scott, and the rest of their team decide that it’s time to kill Deucalion (Gideon Emery) and come up with a plan to do so. Team Scott and Team Deucalion battle it out while Deucalion watches(?) over them. Near the end of the fight, Derek and Ennis (Brian Patrick Wade) fall a few stories to their death (or so it seems). This is why Boyd and Isaac were so intent on ripping Ethan to shreds on the bus.

Ms. Morell (Bianca Lawson) and a few of Deucalion’s minions bring Ennis over to Dr. Deaton’s (Seth Gilliam) practice (the nerve!) and hope that he can save Ennis’ life. Deaton refuses outright, but Ms. Morell assures him that if Ennis dies, then Deucalion will continue to kill innocent people and will definitely go after Scott. Deaton reluctantly obliges. The status of Ennis condition is what Ethan was waiting for via text from his brother Aidan (Max Carver).

Scott’s nasty gash from the big fight was from an Alpha so naturally it took a while to heal, but it appeared that it was taking much longer than usual and that it may be getting worse. Lydia (Holland Roden) discovers that the injury is somatoformic, a physical illness from a psychogenic cause. It’s all in his head and he’s not letting himself heal because Derek died. Allison (Crystal Reed) stitches him up to at least give it the slight appearance that it’s healing.

Near the end of the episode, Ms. Blake (Haley Webb) leaves school and while getting into her car, a bloody Derek shows up at her window and collapses to the ground. He’s alive! But will he survive?

BEST BITES

 • A lot of the Scott and Allison scenes in the episode were great especially the flashback in Allison’s room when she challenges Scott that her skills overpower his abilities. It was a very flirty scene which was accented perfectly with London Grammar’s Hey Now playing in the background. We’ve currently got that scene and that song on repeat!

 • Mama Argent (Eaddy Mays) makes another appearance as Allison tries to stitch Scott’s wounds. It was soo nice to see her again and we HOPE that she is somehow alive and makes it back into the show. She was so deliciously evil, we couldn’t get enough of her!

 • How beautiful was that location where all that beast fighting went down? It looked like an old, abandoned mall. We’re not sure if it’s an existing location or something that was part of a set mixed with CGI, but the way it was filmed mixed with the lighting made it look really mesmerizing.
