SYFY’s SurrealEstate returns this week with a big three-year time jump. A lot has happened since we last saw the Roman/Ireland crew. From our various interviews over the past couple of years with various members of the cast and producers, here’s what we can share on who’s back and who’s not.
Susan – Sarah Levy | Sarah Levy welcomed a baby into the world shortly before production on began on Season 2. The writers gave the actress some much-needed time off by having the real estate agent sucked into her home and was MIA for a few episodes.
This season, Levy is back full time, which is fortunate for her, but not so much for her character. “Susan’s never safe,” Series Creator and Showrunner George R. Olson tells PopWire of her character in Season 3. “She steps into situations where she is always in peril.”
Lomax – Elena Juatco | As soon as Elena Juatco’s Lomax was introduced in Season 2, she quickly became one of our favorite characters on the show. At the end of Season 2, her character was even offered a permanent position at the agency.
“[George] loves Lomax and cares about her so much” Juatco tells us about her character. “I have absolute trust in what his vision is with this character.” So it’s no surprise that Juatco returns as a series regular this time around.
“Elena brought [Lomax] to glorious life and she’s just so great,” Olson says excitedly. “And you’re going to love Elena or Lomax this season because she has just so much fun stuff to do and so many good lines.”
Megan – Tennille Read | At the start of SurrealEstate’s sophomore season, Megan said her goodby to Luke as she heads off to her residency program. It was the last we saw her. Executive Producer Danishka Esterhazy did not rule out the character’s return.
“Megan has her own journeys during Season 1, and they don’t involve the Roman Agency,” Esterhazy explains. “But I believe we will see her again! I know that our writers love Megan and they have some fun ideas for Season 3.”
PopWire can confirm that Tennille Read does return and can be seen in as early as the Season 3 premiere.
Father Phil – Adam Korson | At the close of Season 2, Father Phil (Adam Korson) and his family headed off to Rome to pursue other opportunities. The former priest and former research specialist at the agency is very much enjoying his time there.
“Father Phil is still in Rome,” Olson tells us about the character’s whereabouts in Season 3. “While [the characters] talk about him often and always fondly, and even to tap him for some help at some point, he does not appear in this season.”
Melanie Scrofano | In its inaugural season, SYFY royalty Melanie Scrofano pulled double duty – guest starring as Harper North and stepping behind the camera to direct a couple episodes. The Wynonna Earp actress returned in Season 2 in a strictly directorial role helming the final two episodes of the season.
“We love Mel,” EP Esterhazy tells us. “She’s part of our team. It was really great she was available to do the [Season 2] finale, which is a really exciting set of episodes.” For the series’ third chapter, however, scheduling conflicts prevented her return.
“I’m actually not returning for Season 3,” Scrofano told PopWire during the Wynonna Earp: Vengeance junket. “But I have a very good reason. I’m somewhere else doing something else that is also part of the SYFY family.”
At the time, Scrofano couldn’t reveal much, but it was announced shortly after that her secret project is the upcoming Revival series from Blue Ice Pictures, which we believe will premiere on SYFY later this year.
