SYFY’s “SurrealEstate” Brought Back From the Dead; Resurrected From Cancellation For Season 2

SYFY’s SurrealEstate has achieved the near-impossible feat of being resurrected from cancellation. The cabler announced Tuesday morning that the paranormal drama series will return for a sophomore season sometime next year.

SurrealEstate follows real estate agent Luke Roman and an elite team of specialists that handle the cases no one else can: haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away. Researching, investigating and “fixing” the things that go bump in the night, the team works to create closure – and closings – even as they struggle with demons of their own.

In the heartbreaking Season 1 finale of SurrealEstate, Luke Roman discovered that the hateful woman in the Donovan House was actually his sister and not his mother. After she was banished into the portal in the basement, Luke lost his ability to communicate with the dead, meaning he no longer is able to connect with his late father.

News of SurrealEstate‘s cancellation came in mid-October when series creator and showruner George R. Olson shared the news on social media. “Hey folks. Sorry to tell you that we will not be moving forward with Syfy on Season Two of #SurrealEstate,” Olson Tweeted. “But we have no intention of leaving Luke alone in a bowling alley when his mom is out there somewhere and mortgage rates are so reasonable.”

He added that though this may be the end for the series at SYFY, they’re hoping SurrealEstate will be resurrected elsewhere. “We’re committed to finding a new home for #SurrealEstate, and if there’s one thing The Roman Agency knows about, it’s finding new homes. You can help us by keeping #SurrealEstate in your hearts, minds, tweets, and posts.

“Stay tuned. And thanks so much for believing in ghosts, demons, Roadies, LRG’s, Mumfords, low-maintenance composite decking, and our little show.”

The series stars Tim Rozon as Luke Roman, Sarah Levy as Susan Ireland, Tennille Read as Megan Donovan, Maurice Dean Wint as August Ripley, and Adam Korson as Father Phil Orley.

The SurrealEstate Season 2 announcement comes just one week before the 2022 Upfronts, and SYFY shares that the new season will hit the air sometime in 2023.
