“SurrealEstate” Exclusive: Director/EP Danishka Esterhazy Talks the Agency’s Power Dynamic in the Season of Susan

It’s been a two-month time jump since the events of SYFY’s SurrealEstate Season 1 finale took place. When we last saw the gang, a defeated and powerless Luke (Tim Rozon) made the difficult decision to temporarily step down from his post from the agency. In his place, he appoints Susan to take lead and take over his duties during the absence of his indefinite hiatus.

In the supernatural series’ Season 2 premiere, Susan (Sarah Levy) is successfully striving, handling the reins in running the agency. But how is she holding up and how long will it last? In an exclusive interview with PopWire, SurrealEstate Director/EP Danishka Esterhazy previews what’s been going on and teases what’s to come.

“Susan’s journey is so interesting this season,” Esterhazy tells us. “She’s become the agency leader while Luke’s been unavailable, while he’s off dealing with the loss of his abilities. She’s really grown into it. She’s a natural leader, she’s very strong and she’s very efficient.

“But the problem is,” she continues, “– spoiler alert — Luke comes back and then she has to figure out where her true role lies. Does she just stand aside and let Luke become the leader of the agency again, does she try and hold onto her position as leader of the agency?”

Through the power struggle, viewers of SurrealEstate will have to see if the two can find a common ground and partnership that’s respectful for both and while letting both of their abilities shine through.

“It’s a real conundrum for them and it makes their relationship really difficult in Season 2,” Danishka Esterhazy says. “It’s a great journey watching Susan throughout this season.”

SurrealEstate airs Wednesdays at 10pm on SYFY.
