Since Revival’s summer debut on the SYFY network, critics agree that the latest comic-to-screen adaptation series has given viewers the perfect excuse to stay up late on a weeknight. The new paranormal drama starring Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp), Romy Weltman (Slasher), David James Elliot (JAG) and Andy McQueen (Mrs. Davis) holds steady with a 93% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes and rings in July listed on the renowned TV review website’s “Top Ten TV Shows” for the second month in a row. The latter recognition lends significant praise to co-creators/showrunners Luke Boyce and Aaron B. Koontz in an era ruled by streaming service giants like Netflix, Hulu and Apple TV+.
In just three episodes, SYFY’s Revival unleashed a supernatural phenomenon on a once quiet Wausau, Wisconsin, that resurrected a mass of town’s people from the grave. Coined as Revival Day, the unprecedented event is further complicated by fearmongering of political figureheads and religious fanatics looking to stoke mass hysteria and capitalize on power and control. Served with a hefty side of murder mystery, a growing cult and contaminated water with a possible connection to Wausau’s life-after-death, we have ourselves a story beaming with intrigue, unpredictability and horror.

Last week’s installment “Reality Check” kept viewers on edge as flashbacks of the moments leading up to Em Cypress’s (Romy Weltman) death on Revival Day continue to paint a growing picture of the truth. PopWire recently connected with Co-Creator/Co-Showrunner Luke Boyce where he teased what viewers can expect from Episode 4, “Run Along Little Lamb”:
“Episode 4 is gonna start out seeming like, you know, just another kind of day at the office. We’re moving through the mystery. Things start to heat up and I don’t think people are prepared for the end of Episode 4. Episode 4 changes the game and [this] early in the season, I’m excited to see how people react to what happens.”
You don’t want to miss it. Revival “Run Along Little Lamb” was written by Ashley Park and directed by Amanda Row. The episode airs Thursday, July 3 at 10/9c on SYFY.
