The vampire apocalypse is quickly approaching on SYFY’s Reginald the Vampire as Balestro (Garfield Wilson), the vengeful exterminating archangel, sets his sightss on eradicating every vampire on the planet. With just one episode left until the Season 2 finale, PopWire connected with with one of the series’ stars Em Haine to preview what’s to come.
In a recent episode of the vampire dramedy, “Terminal Eternity,” written by Alexandra Zarowny and directed by Justin Wu, the titular bloodsucker and his love, Sarah Kinney, accept their fate that this is the end and dream up and envision their future had Reginald not be subjected to his untimely demise. If Sarah’s portrayer also had an imminent expiration date, what would be at the top of her bucket list?
“I would just hunker down with the people that I love and maybe we would just have a big old party and be together,” she continues. “And that’s it because at the end of the day, I think for me, the most beautiful thing in my life are the connections that I have with my loved ones. It would probably be pretty boring; we would just be hanging out. That would be my number one thing.”
Throughout the Reginald the Vampire series, Sarah, the self-described “normal girl,” has been kept in the dark about the supernatural beings inhabiting her small town. But now that everything is in the open, the normal girl who fled from a cult to find a new life has been thrust into the mix and engaging in all the action in adventure with her vampire friends.
“I am part of the Scooby Gang, honey!” Haine exclaims. “I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve been waiting for this! It feels sooo good. I know that I’ve talked about the sword a million times over, but getting that sword felt so empowering.
“Sarah’s just so dang brave, you know? She’s the one with the least amount of power of the whole crew and she steps to the front and she’s just like, try me. I’d been hoping at least for this whole time that I’d get to be involved in some of these heists and adventures and to be there. I always want to be the center of the mix. I’m geared up. I’m happy.”
In our previous interview with the actress prior to the start of the sophomore season, Haine shared that she was “so excited” for people to see her character wielding Uriel’s sword. “I was so stoked to be able to play with this huge weapon and step up and be part of the gang. She’s got her sword and she’s not messing around taking any crap from anybody. I think it’s super empowering, super fun.”
As for the Season 2 finale of Reginald the Vampire, she previews that there are “some real twists” that are coming up. “I’ve been known to be a bit of a blabber mouth, so I’m really trying hard not to give too much away that I shouldn’t. I think that I can say with confidence that no one’s going to see it coming and that everyone’s world will change yet again with what happens at the end of this season.
“The last episode of Season 2 I think might be my favorite for Sarah’s storyline,” Em Haine says. “So hang in there, it’s coming…”
Reginald the Vampire airs Wednesdays at 10pm on SYFY.
