“Supergirl” Recap: Everything Comes Crashing Down

With one episode to go until the season finale, “Supergirl” isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to its latest, “The Missing Link.” Supergirl and Dreamer must find Rama Khan, who is given a second chance at killing Supergirl. Brainy’s partnership with Lex hits a crucial turning point, Alex and Kelly try to bring down Leviathan and Lena finally comes to a decision about her friendship with Kara.

Where There’s Smoke, There’s a Luthor | Where to begin this week? Cooper gives Rama Khan a second chance to kill the superheroes, providing him with a magic staff that Lex stole from the Fortress of Solitude. As Dreamer, J’onn and M’gann, who is sticking around to help, try to track Leviathan, Alex and Kara go to visit Pete Andrews (Sean Astin), Kelly’s language expert friend who Malefic impersonated earlier this season. Kelly and William are digging up dirt on Obsidian’s technical glitch that Margo took responsibility for and William discovers that Margo’s video was faked.

Start a Riot | Elsewhere, Lex and Lena return to the prison where Lena conducted her mind control experiment after an inmate has a violent episode. This spreads from inmate to inmate, making them act like the zombies from “28 Days Later” causing a riot, as Lena tries to fix it. Alex and Pete get shot at when they get close to finding out more about Leviathan, while Nia dreams Brainy playing cards with pictures of Lex and Rama Khan on them.

This leads her to a lab in Oregon, where Rama Khan is trying to cause an earthquake with the stolen staff, but Supergirl and Dreamer stop him. Brainy and DEO agents arrive to arrest Rama Khan, but Brainy won’t allow Supergirl or Dreamer to interrogate him. Brainy speaks in an ancient language to Rama Khan, covertly revealing his alliance with Lex, but Rama Khan reveals that he was trying to get into the DEO HQ. He overwhelms the heroes and makes out with all the Kryptonite and also levels the DEO building for good (bad?) measure. Afterwards, Dreamer angrily tells off Brainy when he still refuses to reveal his alliance with Lex.

Time Heals All Wounds | Kelly and William discover that the faked video was engineered by Eve and bring their concerns to Rojas, but she doesn’t care, only concerned with Obsidian’s upcoming unity festival. William, however, tracks down Eve and gets himself kidnapped as a result. Back at the prison, Lena fixes the inmates’ violent tendencies, but doing so undoes her peaceful programming.

She finally comes to her senses and abandons the project, but Lex reveals that he knew the project was doomed from the start; he just needed her to see it so she would join his plan. Lena walks out on Lex, who responds by burning the prison to the ground, just as he gets a call from Cooper, inviting him to Leviathan’s base. Lex informs Brainy of this and that the DEO HQ’s destruction was all part of the plan. As J’onn and M’gann share a kiss, Kara gets a knock on the door from none other than Lena, who tearfully admits how wrong she was and promises to help Kara stop Lex. Kara is silent for a long time, but pulls up a chair for Lena.

“Supergirl” airs Sundays on The CW.
