Right before a COVID-19 enforced indefinite hiatus, “Supergirl” puts Chyler Leigh’s Alex Danvers center stage in “Alex in Wonderland.” Reeling with emotions after her father’s death, Alex retreats into a VR world in which she is the Girl of Steel. As Kelly works with William to uncover the recent issue with Obsidian’s tech, Alex begins to lose herself in the simulation.
Let the Past Die | As Kara and Alex are still reeling from Jeremiah’s sudden death from a heart attack, J’onn informs them that he spent his final days helping alien refugees. That doesn’t help Alex, as she is still angry at her father for abandoning her and she refuses to go to the funeral, lashing out at Kara and Kelly in the process even as Kelly drops the L word on Alex.
After they leave, Alex uses Kelly’s VR lenses to go into a virtual world in which she is Supergirl. There, she meets Bonnie, a woman trying to escape her harsh reality with her cancer stricken sister, and Derek, a guitarist who seems to not know that this isn’t real. But turns out that Derek is being kept in a Leviathan controlled cold room and Bonnie was just sent there by Margo.

A Glitch in the Matrix | As Kelly goes back to work, William approaches her trying to find out a connection between Lex and Obsidian. Kelly finds out that the exit glitch that Bates installed was not fixed and there are 500 users of the lenses that have logged an unusual amount of hours in VR.
To make matters worse, in the VR land, Alex begins to lose herself in the simulation, even when strange things start happening, such as, and I’m not making this up, a singing Abraham Lincoln. Kelly arrives home and sees Alex on the couch with her lenses red, as William discovers that Lex’s vote on the board is what killed the work that would’ve fixed the exit glitch.
Alex on Alex | Kelly enters VR to try to snap Alex out of it, but Alex is too far gone to listen. Kelly reprograms the VR to show Alex her younger self, who proves to her that the world isn’t real. Alex wakes herself up and returns Kelly’s “I love you,” and also informs her of Bonnie and Derek getting lost in VR.
Kelly tells Andrea, who orders someone to fix the glitch. Unfortunately, that someone is Eve Tessmacher! As Alex and Kelly arrive at Jeremiah’s funeral, William finds out from an NSA contact that 100 or so people have not woken up from VR and they’re all at one address. When William goes there, Margo puts on a holographic empty warehouse, but William finds a hospital bracelet on the floor.
