“Supergirl” Recap: Toyman 2: Toy Harder
Jeremy Jordan’s return to “Supergirl” continues in a very “Die Hard” inspired episode, “Back From the Future- Part Two,” in which Toyman’s mysterious return wreaks havoc on the DEO and forces Winn to face his fears. William asks Kara out on a date, while Brainy’s deceptions catch up with him.
Unlimited Evil | After yet another “Supergirl” karaoke night, William asks Kara out on a date, just as the DEO comes under attack from a virtual Toyman, who turns the building’s tech against the team. Turns out Toyman uploaded his consciousness to a laptop that the DEO seized and is hacking into their mainframe with the goal of breaking out of the building to infect the internet. Lex covertly contacts Brainy to order him to copy the algorithm that Toyman used to copy his mind for his own nefarious plans.

Into the Depths | As Supergirl and Winn dive deep into the DEO’s sub levels to find the mainframe, Winn admits that it was him who designed the algorithm back when his father was still in his life. When they get to the mainframe, Winn’s father appears to them in the computer screen and tries to convince them that he will help them stop the alternate Toyman. Winn is naturally suspicious of his father, but as Toyman hacks into robots to attack the DEO, he is forced to use a future device to go inside the mainframe to kill the file that represents Toyman and his father.
Personal Problems | Meanwhile, Lena offers Andrea an olive branch to fix her malfunctioning contact lenses, but Andrea refuses due to their personal issues. After hearing of this, Lex has dinner with Cooper and talks her into a joint venture between Luthor Corp and Obsidian North, and Cooper in turn connives Andrea to accept Lena’s offer. Turns out that Lena was the one who planted the bug in the lenses and access to Obsidian North’s resources will advance her project.
As Winn duels with Toyman in a very creative fight scene, Alex finds out that Brainy has been hacking into her DEO computer to delete a spyware program she was using to spy on Lex. He claims he was doing it to protect her from Lex’s wrath when he found out that she was spying on him and Alex buys it. Winn manages to delete Toyman’s file with the help of his virtual father and save the DEO, but the next day, Alex quits, saying that she can’t work for Lex anymore. The team bids adieu to Winn as he returns to the future and Kara ends up turning down William’s date. As Brainy delivers the algorithm to Lex, who promotes him to Alex’s job, Kara gets a knock on the door from Mr Mxzyzpitlk.
“Supergirl” airs Sundays on The CW.
