“Supergirl” Recap: The Old Switcheroo
After Lex Luthor pretty much stole the show in the last few episodes of “Supergirl,” the first episode without him, “All About Eve,” feels like a downgrade. Also, Eve barely figures into this episode, making the title a misnomer.
Supergirl teams up with Alex and Lena to track down Eve, while James struggles with the aftermath of his near death experience. Snowbird’s role in Lex’s plot is revealed and J’onn faces a personal encounter.
Peace or No Peace | J’onn is having an emotional crisis following his killing of Manchester, to the point that he falls out of the sky while trying to help Supergirl find Lex. He is visited by a projection of his father, who is disappointed in him for breaking his peaceful oath and wants to take back the Martian knowledge he gifted him. Eventually, J’onn, after a powerful acting job from David Harewood, realizes that he must do whatever he feels is right and his father’s spirit approves. J’onn vows to leave Earth for now to take the Martian knowledge to a planet where it can be found by someone worthy of passing it on.

A Traitor in Our Midst | Supergirl finally makes peace with the DEO and Haley allows her to work with Alex to find Lex. Lena recovers from being drugged by Eve and tags along with Supergirl and Alex to raid Eve’s secret lab, where they find the alien rock Lena kept. At first, Supergirl is pissed that Lena kept it from her, but very quickly realizes that without it, James would be dead and forgives her, much to Lena’s surprise.
They also find records of using Metallo’s Kryptonite energy to resurrect Otis and a few other failed subjects, as well as the gun that shot James. James, meanwhile, is trying to hide his PTSD from Kelly, who offers to help him, but he coldly turns her away.
Let Them Hate | In Washington DC, the senate votes to repeal the Alien Amnesty Act after Eve blackmails the swing vote senator to vote in its favor. James arrives at the White House after Kara tells him that Eve was behind his shooting and likely Lockwood as well. He confronts Lockwood about his connection to Lex, which Lockwood seems to have no idea about. At that moment, Snowbird, dressed in Supergirl’s suit, arrives and murders most of the staff in the room, save James and Lockwood, before setting the White House on fire in front of the world, framing Supergirl for terrorism. President Baker declares Supergirl public enemy number one, but Alex and Lena tell Supergirl that they’re on her side and they’ll figure it out.
“Supergirl” returns with new episodes Sunday, April 21 on The CW.
