“Supergirl” Recap: I Am Iron Girl

“Supergirl” reverts to old habits, namely a busy episode that bites off more than it can chew in “Ahimsa.” With Supergirl sidelined in a Kryptonite filtering suit, Alex faces a crisis when Otis and Mercy plot to attack a fair. J’onn meets Fiona’s fiancee, Manchester Black, and they team up to find her, while Lena and Brainy team up to save Supergirl’s life.

Family Emergency | Supergirl wakes up in her Kryptonite suit and immediately wants to get back into the action, but Alex orders her to stay put until Lena and Brainy can use L Corp nanites to drain the Kryptonite out of the air. Meanwhile, J’onn returns to his apartment and is met by Fiona’s fiancee, Manchester Black, who is desperate to find her. Around this time, a group of mind controlled aliens who can multiply themselves attack a police station and Supergirl defies orders to help Alex fight them, but nearly dies in the process.

Lean On Me | As Alex begins to break under the pressure of being Director of the DEO, J’onn and Manchester figure out that Fiona is being forced to use her psychic powers to control the aliens. J’onn psychically communicates with her and they decipher a location from her clues- the National City Fair, where Otis and Mercy are plotting an attack. Alex is ordered by President Baker and General Hailey not to put Supergirl into action, but Alex defies orders and sends Supergirl in after realizing that their odds of success triple if Supergirl is there.

Take Charge | Back at CatCo, Nia warns James not to intervene as Guardian at the fair attack knowing that he’ll be prosecuted if he does, but when Supergirl is overpowered, he rides in as Guardian and helps her out. Otis and Mercy get the upper hand on Supergirl, but J’onn and Manchester find Fiona in the back of a truck and she frees the aliens from mind control, causing one to outright kill Otis and Mercy in retaliation. Unfortunately, Fiona succumbs to her wounds, much to Manchester’s horror.

When Alex returns to the DEO, General Hailey arrives to supervise her actions after she disobeyed her. Lena’s nanites manage to drain the atmosphere of Kryptonite, making the air safe for Supergirl again. James tells Lena that no one has called for his arrest as Guardian, but Nia informs him that Ben Lockwood has somehow written an article claiming that he was attacking aliens. Jansen returns to Lockwood after Otis and Mercy’s deaths and Lockwood shoves some alien worm in his ear. That would be much more effective if we knew what that was!

“Supergirl” airs Sundays on The CW.
