“Supergirl” is starting to get into a repetitive formula in “Of Two Minds.” People all over National City start getting sick, heralding the arrival of Pestilence. When Alex and Winn are affected, Supergirl must decide how far she’s willing to go to end the worldkiller’s threat.
The Cure | A mysterious infection starts ravaging National City, signaling Pestilence’s arrival. Imra seems ready to kill Pestilence right out of the gate to prevent her from evolving into the Blight, which will kill millions in the future. Supergirl insists that she can get through to Pestilence’s humanity, but Imra is all in on killing her. Sound familiar? Didn’t we do this storyline with Alex a few episodes ago? And haven’t we done the Supergirl-Doesn’t-Kill storyline for the entire series so far?

Mon-El and Imra synthesize a cure from their blood, which doesn’t work on the infected Alex and Winn because the cure is for the Blight, not Pestilence. Brainiac figures out through social media- which Mon-El claims is short lived- that Dr. Grace Parker was at all the places where people were infected.
It’s Gonna Hurt | Back with Lena and Samantha, Lena is hurting Samantha to trigger Reign in order to find the gene that brings Reign out. This keeps not working for some reason, but Lena refuses to call Supergirl for help because, get ready for this, she thinks Supergirl and the DEO will dissect and kill Samantha. Clearly, the writers weren’t the only ones who forgot that Supergirl never kills.
God Complex | Supergirl and crew arrive to take down Grace from killing more people, but Grace is fully committed to killing as Pestilence. After a fight, Purity arrives and takes Pestilence with her. Fortunately, Imra’s dart that wounds Grace draws enough blood for them to make a cure. Hooray! No consequences for anything! Well, not entirely, as Purity and Pestilence storm Lena’s lab and take Reign with them. And Supergirl finally figures out that Lena is keeping Samantha and is not too pleased. Meanwhile, we were so close to being done with the whole worldkiller thing and now we’re back to square one for a storyline that’s been going on forever.
