“Supergirl” Episode Review: All the Superhero’s Men
“iZombie’s” Rahul Kohli stops by “Supergirl” as Lena’s ex-boyfriend, whose scientific breakthrough may not be as life-saving as it seems. Kara attempts to get to the truth while Lyra tries to help James’s Guardian persona.

“Ace Reporter” stripped down the crowded ensemble of the show- Alex, J’onn and Maggie were all but non-factors- and delivered a strong episode in the process. This week was another Lena-focused episode, unsurprising seeing as Katie McGrath is rising to series regular for season 3, and she certainly got some good stuff. Her ex Jack stops by and she starts to rebuild a relationship with him, but naturally, he’s a nanobot infected puppet controlled by his world-domination-on-my-mind business partner.
Lena is forced to kill Jack to save the day, which may be turning her down a darker path, seeing as she is a Luthor. And with Mon-El’s mother visiting her in the last scene, there’s clearly more of her coming down the pipe…
Elsewhere, Kara eventually got her reporting job back after helping Snapper expose the truth about Jack’s company, after two whistleblowers are killed trying to set the record straight. This gave the episode a journalism driven angle, as Snapper sticks to his ethical responsibilities and in the end praises Kara for doing the same. It was fun to see this hardass show a soft spot for Kara in the end and it gives Kara a good victory for a change.
“Ace Reporter,” despite not serving the whole cast, was a solid episode and a fun way to kick off the final strain of the season. With four episodes to go, here’s hoping season 2 goes out on a high note.
“Supergirl” airs Mondays on The CW.
