This week on “Supergirl,” Cadmus begins abducting aliens to execute a dangerous plan called Exodus. Alex crosses the line to find her rogue father, while Kara takes a stand against Snapper.
“Exodus” was probably one of the more epic “Supergirl” episodes all season, which is saying something. The action this week was top notch as Alex showed off what a badass she was by blowing the hell out of Cadmus’s launch site and taking on a few foot soldiers along the way. There was also a cool brawl at the bar between James, Alex, Maggie and Cadmus’s men. Even Lyra got in on the action. And let’s talk about the fact that Supergirl flat out pushed a spaceship down to Earth! How awesome was that?

But even with the action, there was tons of drama this week. Alex was tricked by J’onn into proving herself unfit for duty at the DEO in one of the colder moments of the season. Add to that the fact that J’onn has essentially been Alex’s surrogate father for the show and this betrayal stings a lot.
Kara got equally juicy stuff to deal with as Snapper refused to run a potentially life-saving story exposing Cadmus. Kara blogs the story anyway and Snapper coldly fires her. Both the Danvers sisters worked opposite sides of the morality coin this week: Alex and Kara both cross the line for good reasons and Alex gets away scott-free while Kara doesn’t. The duality between these two always makes for good drama and it really paid off here.
Side note: This is at least the third episode to end on a cover of an 80s song, in this case Bootstraps covering Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.” Must be a theme.
“Exodus” was one of the more balanced episodes of season two in terms of action v. drama. It was also a great episode in general and should feed the fuel of the last act of the season.
“Supergirl” airs Mondays on The CW.
