“Supergirl” Episode Review: If You Love Someone…

This week on “Supergirl,” Jeremiah Danvers was rescued by Supergirl, who enjoyed a family reunion- until Mon-El questions the circumstances surrounding his rescue.

“Homecoming” packed in a ton of drama for this lighthearted show. Jeremiah Danvers returns, only to be revealed to be in league with Cadmus and Lillian Luthor. While this twist was fairly obvious and nothing we haven’t seen before, the way the characters reacted to this shocker was what drove this episode. Alex was claws out nasty at Kara when she accused Jeremiah, which, while slightly contrived seeing as Kara was just going along with Mon-El and Winn, was nonetheless well acted and gut wrenching.

Speaking of, the episode delivered a very somber ending with Kara and Alex drowning their sorrows with their loved ones, neither saying anything. It would’ve been great if the episode ended right then and there, but the vague teaser of Cadmus’s evil spaceship… thing crashed the moment a bit.

“Homecoming” was a emotionally driven episode that took the viewer through a good up-and-down arc. Clearly galvanizing team Supergirl for the next few episodes, it’ll be interesting to see where the show goes from here.

“Supergirl” airs Mondays on The CW.
