This week on “Supergirl,” Lena Luthor was implicated in Lillian’s escape from prison, forcing Kara to decide if Lena is truly good or not.
“Luthors” was pretty much one big storyline for the whole episode, despite an innocent opening with Alex officially coming out to the group. Lena took center stage as she was confronted by Lillian, who reveals that Lena is not biologically her daughter. Frankly, though, that twist added nothing to the episode, aside from some good drama for Lena and being the reason Lillian could get into Lex’s secret vault.
Speaking of, Lillian managed to escape with some sort of mystery weapon created by Lex for a good teaser for the future. Metallo also returned and met his explosive end in the episode’s finale. At the rate “Supergirl” is recycling villains from the past, I wouldn’t be surprised if Siobhan makes a return.
“Luthors” had moments, but seemed to unnecessarily pad out the whole Luthor drama for the season. Seeing as the mid-season finale gave us a satisfying resolution for both Lena and Lillian, bringing them back for a one-episode conflict was a bit overkill.
