The truth never stays buried.

The requel (that’s reboot + sequel) of one of horror’s most iconic franchises, I Know What You Did Last Summer, is just over a month away from hitting theaters.

On Wednesday morning, Sony Pictures dropped a brand-new poster that’s sure to grab your attention.

“When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences.

A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge.

As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.”

The official poster marks the return of original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., who step back into their roles alongside a new cast of fresh faces.

In the artwork, a car beams its headlights—possibly a nod to the fateful joyride that sets everything in motion, or maybe it belongs to the hooded figure out for revenge. Either way, it’s a chilling touch that hints at what’s to come.

Joining Prinze and Hewitt in the cast are Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols.

The film’s story comes from Leah McKendrick and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, with a screenplay by Sam Lansky and Robinson, who also takes the director’s chair.

I Know What You Did Last Summer isn’t rated yet (though we’re crossing our fingers for an R), and it slashes its way into theaters on July 18.
