Yet another Marvel Studios series has hit Disney+ and this time, it’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, starring Tatiana Maslany as the title heroine. In this first episode, Jennifer Walters becomes a She-Hulk and works with her cousin Bruce Banner to understand her transformation.
Yeah, About That… | After preparing to close a big case, Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) looks directly into the camera and decides to catch us up to speed on what happened a few months ago when she went on a road trip with her cousin Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Bruce has been working on a prototype device that has been healing his arm after the snap that brought back half the population- meanwhile, Jen has learned to eat Cheetos with chopsticks. As they’re driving down the road, a spaceship that look straight out of “Thor: Ragnarok” nearly runs them over, causing their car to crash off the highway. When Jen tries to rescue Bruce from the wreck, his blood gets into her cut and she transforms into a, well, She Hulk.

Hulk Out | Jen makes it to a bar, where some men try to take advantage of her, before she hulks out and Bruce as the Hulk rescues her. She wakes up the next morning in Bruce’s secret lab on a tropical island, where he has tested her blood and determined that since their DNA is similar, they both react to gamma radiation the same way and now she’s a hulk. Bruce recommends to a horrified Jen that she study a multiyear plan for how to balance her two selves, but the plan is shot when she hulks out and immediately demonstrates that she is still Jen in full control of her hulk form, which makes Bruce very jealous.
Hulk vs Hulk | After long days of Bruce testing the limits of Jen’s abilities, including her tolerance for absurd amounts of alcohol, Jen decides that she can skip a few steps and return to her normal life, since she can control her changes. Bruce still insists that she needs to take up a superhero mantle, but Jen refuses, telling him that it didn’t work out for him and he is now sitting on a beach alone and without human contact. This causes the two hulks to fight, which ends up destroying the beachside bar that Bruce built with Tony Stark. They apologize to each other and rebuild the bar and Bruce reluctantly tells Jen that she can return to normalcy.
Back at the courthouse from the opening, Jen reveals that her co counsel and best friend Nikki (Ginger Gonzaga) is the only one who knows besides Bruce, but she hasn’t hulked out since. Right before Jen can give her closing argument for the case, a woman (Jameela Jamil) bursts into the courtroom. Nikki encourages Jen to hulk out, which she does, and she kicks the woman’s butt before transforming back into herself and finishing her remarks.
