“Sense8” Episode Review: Musical Minds

“Sense8” continues with “Art is Like Religion,” in which Sun must make a life-altering decision, Kala’s doubts about her wedding grow and Capheus must pass a test to prove his loyalty to Silas.

The plot went on hold this week for more character interactions, albeit with a Wachowski twist. Capheus and Sun have a face to face, while Sun struggles with her decision to take the fall for her brother’s embezzlement. She ultimately decides to turn herself in and must give up her adorable dog as a result. It was nice for a breather before Sun’s drastic decision and her interactions with Capheus were well done, showcasing the show’s signature location swapping conversations.

Speaking of Capheus, he was robbed of the one bag he needed to deliver for Silas, only to find out that the robbery was planned to “test” him. Silas is slowly starting to sound pretty screwed up, but then again, he is a gangster so what else is new?

But the biggest face to face was Kala and Wolfgang, as the latter creeped into Kala’s head at her wedding- while naked. This ended the episode on a super awkward, yet hysterical note depending on where you sit. It was also the first official meet up these two have had, further driving home the absurdity of this situation.

“Art is Like Religion” took a breather from plot, which most shows couldn’t get away with. But this one gave us good character dynamics and interactions, so we’ll let it slide.

Season 2 of Sense8 premieres May 5 on Netflix.
