“Sense8’s” second episode, “I Am Also A We,” does what most great shows do in their second outing: Draw viewers further into its’ world. Lito is pursued by his attractive costar Daniela and tries to keep her at arms’ length. Nomi and Will are visited by the mysterious Jonas, whose visit has serious consequences for the former.

Seeing as “Limbic Resonance” was a rapid fire introduction to eight different characters, it may have put off a few viewers. But episode 2 is much more focused on a select few characters, as opposed to trying to juggle all eight at once. First up, Nomi ends up with the worst parental hospital visit since “Million Dollar Baby” as her unaccepting mother pays to have her lobotomized after she falls off a motorcycle. Her doctor claims that her brain disorder may kill her and cause hallucinations, but the truth of this statement has yet to be verified and could just be a conspiracy to get her out of the picture.
In lighter news, Lito is revealed to have a loving boyfriend, Armando, which Daniela takes unsettlingly well. This subplot was clearly played up for laughs after the serious issues Nomi is facing, but it still felt a little off. But the final image of the three of them drinking their troubles away was still funny.
To close things out, Will meets Jonas, the mystery man who was with Angelica in the series opener. This lead to a super creative car chase in which Will and Jonas swap places while chasing each other. Of course, that leads to the cars crashing, ending the episode.
“I Am Also A We,” while still suffering from the balancing issue the pilot had, was nonetheless an entertaining episode. With equal measures of drama, comedy and thrills, it’s the kind of episode that suckers you in for the rest of the ride.
