SDCC: “Revival’s” Andy McQueen & David James Elliott Preview Season’s Remaining Episodes

Todd Williamson/SYFY

Continuing PopWire’s coverage of Revival from San Diego Comic Con 2025, series stars David James Elliott (Wayne Cypress) and Andy McQueen (Ibrahim Ramin) sat down with us at the annual convention to discuss the challenges that their characters have faced over the course of the show thus far ahead of the season’s final three episodes.

Kicking things off, McQueen dived into Ibrahim’s discovery of the mysterious creature dubbed The Passenger in the concluding moments of episode six. “It certainly affects him going forward,” McQueen said. “Every character is tested when it comes to what their belief system is, and certainly for Ibrahim, it does change from [episode] six. After seeing that, his man of science is tested, like John Locke and Jack Shephard [from Lost]”

Elliott teased the final three episodes of the season, saying, “It just keeps on winding and wilder things keep happening and the stakes continue to grow. The action just gets more intense like a volcano and even the denouement is pretty explosive. There’s a lot to look forward to.” “Starting from six, all these things start moving,” McQueen added, also revealing that the series had the unusual practice of shooting five episodes all at once. “For episode seven, when [Ibrahim] finds out that Em is a Reviver, because we’re shooting five episodes at a time, I was like, wait, this is when he finds out? And again, that pushes it all forward for him and for Wayne.”

Elliott shed some light on his complex character of Wayne, saying, “I think we all wind up meeting the person we thought we were. And then having to deal with the fallout of all his belief systems and suddenly we’re thrust into this, insane, crazy, unbelievable world where the things we thought were important have completely dissolved. That added great dimension to the piece. That’s what interested me in this crazy world. We live in a crazy world, but this one is even more crazy.”

“This show just shakes up everybody, even the audience,” Elliott said. “Maybe you see one of these individual characters on different shows, but not in the same room on the same show,” McQueen chimed in. “You have all of this great cast of people and it’s fascinating to me because we’re not privy to that thing on television. I’m happy to see a world where all of these characters exist and we get to watch them grow. It’s a cool thing.”

Revival airs Thursdays at 10/9c on SYFY and episodes stream on Peacock the following week.
