At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, PopWire sat down with the cast of the hit CW series Legacies, about to enter its second season, to talk all the juicy secrets following last season’s shocking finale.

First thing’s first: Danielle Rose Russell, whose character Hope Mikaelson appeared to be erased from existence in the season finale, is assuring fans that she will be back. “If I wasn’t on the show, I probably wouldn’t be here! People thought that I wouldn’t be, and I was like, guys, I’m still here!” Russell said. “It’s going to be interesting to see a world without Hope. It’s going to kill her inside, but she’s so brave and so strong and she loves those people so much and will do anything for them. Poor Hope never gets a break!”

“Hope leaving was such a huge thing,” said Aria Shahghasemi, who plays Landon Kirby. “Putting it back won’t be as simple as putting a puzzle piece back. It’s going to affect everything. It’s really trying to figure out what life we’re leading now.” “I’m just trying to figure out how to be me again cause I’m a werewolf!” added Peyton Alex Smith (Rafael).

Shahgahsemi also reflected on Landon’s family connection to Malivore. “I think he’s going to do a lot of work to distance himself from that. He wanted those answers so badly and he got them and they were not at all what he wanted. I think it’s going to screw with him knowing that’s his dad, but just because you have a bad father doesn’t mean you have a bad life.

Jenny Boyd and Kaylee Bryant, who play twin sisters Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, divulged how the twins learning about the curse put on them that will cause one sister to kill the other affects them. “We were so pushed apart by learning that information,” Bryant said. “And obviously, that led to Josie getting shot! That just means that we’re going to work harder to fight.” “I think it brings them closer together,” Boyd added. “It’s different, it’s more mature. Lizzie listens more to Josie and they have a back and forth between them. It’s a very zen Saltzman twin experience!”

Bryant also delved into Josie’s pansexuality. “I don’t really think of it as anything other than that’s who she is. It’s never anything I look at and say, ‘I can’t do this.’ It’s a really beautiful story to tell about Josie seeing people for who they are and falling in love.”

Quincy Fouse, who plays MG, talked his character’s journey and friendship with fellow vampire Kaleb. “First, MG just murdered a guy. Then he saved a bunch of dudes. What does that do to life? Throughout it all, Kaleb was the one person to say, I’ve got your back, let’s do this. So you’re definitely going to see that evolve.”

Matthew Davis previewed Alaric’s journey over season two, beginning by revealing that Alaric is no longer headmaster of the Salvatore School. “He’s trying to put the pieces together,” Davis said. “He’s found evidence that there was another person at the scene of Malivore that he can’t remember. Obviously, this is Hope. She may or may not make it out of Malivore in the first episode.”

“His daughters are pressing on him to tell them more about the curse,” Davis continued. “He might be holding a key that could save them, but it might also open a door to something worse. He has to make the decision of, do I sacrifice my daughters for the greater good, or do I save my daughters and potentially doom everybody?”

Legacies premieres Thursday, October 10 at 9pm on The CW.
