Heading into its sophomore season, Freeform’s mermaid drama has now found the actress who will be joining the series as Mother Bishop.

Deadline reports that Garcelle Beauvais, who recurred on Syfy’s The Magicians and is most notably known for her series regular role on The Jamie Foxx Show, has landed the role of Susan Bishop, mother to Maddie and wife of Dale.

“After having a little break with Ben, [Maddie’s] mom, who’s been MIA for ten months, comes back into her life,” Evans-Akingbola recently shared at the Siren panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.

“She’s heartbroken and then the bond with her mom coming back is an extra pressure that I think is going to be really interesting to explore in Season 2.”

Siren Season 2 premieres in 2019.
