“Riverdale” EP Sarah Schechter Previews What’s to Come in Season 3 for the Kids, the Adults & Bughead

The CW premiere week is finally here and we are counting down the hours until the Season 3 premiere of one of the network’s hottest shows, Riverdale, makes its comeback.

Earlier this year, OMFGTV sat down with series Executive Producer Sarah Schecter and asked her about what fans can expect in the sexy and thrilling new season.

“The kids are entering their junior year, finally,” she tells us. “I think that that says a lot about the themes of the year. In American schools, that’s the year where you really start thinking about your future.

“You start to reconcile the fact that becoming an adult is now an inevitability. You start thinking differently about the choices you make, about your grades, what your future is going to be. I think that is reflected in the issues.”

Meanwhile, for the parents, Schecter says that as their respective kids grow to become young adults, you can never treat them like adults because they’re their kids, and it’s about respecting who they are. “I think in a way that does gives you a big clue for what the season will be like emotionally.”

As with the series’ previous two seasons, Season 3 will also have a big mystery. “It is very much about sort of the DNA and history of Riverdale,” reveals Schecter. “There’s another mystery because we need something for Betty and Jughead to do! They love solving mysteries!”

Overall, Schecter says the new season is “about those kind of core emotional things I spoke to earlier, which is about growing up.”

Riverdale Season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 10 at 8pm on The CW.
