“Riverdale” EP Sarah Schecter & Star Mädchen Amick Reveal We Haven’t Seen the Last of [Spoiler]

One of the biggest twists of Riverdale‘s sophomore season was the identity of the Black Hood. Why was this serial killer so attached to Betty Cooper? Why was he doing all those terrible things for her?

Fans of the sexy CW series found out that the identity hit way too close to home for Betty when it was revealed the the masked murderer was none other than her father, Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro).

Now that Hal has been put away, we were curious to know how much of a presence he will have in the upcoming, new season. OMFGTV spoke with Executive Producer Sarah Schecter and one of the series’ stars, Mädchen Amick, for the scoop.

“We love Lochlyn,” Schecter tells us. “Lochlyn’s not dead; he’s in jail. I can’t imagine that we won’t have to visit him at some point. Anything can happen. We love him as an actor, he’s so fantastic.

“That was one of the hard parts about that choice,” she continues. “But don’t worry, nobody in Riverdale ever dies and nobody leaves forever — at least judging from the first two seasons.”

For Hal’s wife Alice and as far as where her head is at this season, Mädchen Amick shares that it’s “always fun to see how Alice deals with things.

“She doesn’t seem to like to take things head on. She likes to tuck them away and move on to the next obsession. We get to see a different incarnation of Alice this season, which has been fun to play so far.”

So great news: We haven’t seen the last of Hal Cooper. As Amick reveals, “We’ve got plans for the Black Hood in prison.”

Riverdale Season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 10 at 8pm on The CW.
