“The 100” Cast Talk About Season 5, Reveals Their Hopes, What They’re Looking Forward To & More!
The CW’s hit show The 100 was at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and OMFGTV was lucky enough to speak with some of the cast about the upcoming 5th season! Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropolous, Richard Harmon, Christopher Larkin, and creator Jason Rothenberg discussed where their characters are headed and what could lie ahead for everyone after this 6 year time jump.
Fans have become accustomed to seeing Clarke (Eliza Taylor) play the tough role of leader, but this season we will see a very different side of her. She is going to be very maternal towards her new “daughter” Maddie (Imogen Tear), and Eliza is excited to explore that side of her character. “I myself am very maternal, I’ve got 2 little sisters and a little brother, I have a school in Thailand, I love kids suffice to say.” It’ll be easier for her to put a bit of herself into the character because it’s easier for her to relate to.

This new development to her character may also allow Clarke to relate to her mother Abby (Paige Turco) more. “That’s actually something that I’m really excited to explore. It would be really cool for her to understand a little bit better the hard choices that her mom had to make in order to keep them both alive. I hope at some point Abby gets to see that as well. That would be a really cool storyline.”
Bob Morley says things between Clarke and Bellamy will be different. Bellamy has to figure out how he feels about her after 6 years of separation, and the actor says this is something that is touched upon in the first episode. Morley is also most excited about the Octavia (Marie Avgeropolous) storyline, he wants to know what’s going on on the ground.

Marie is actually pleased that Octavia and Bellamy are separated because now she’s free to make her own decisions without her bog brother “breathing down her neck.” The siblings have always been there for one another but now have to figure out who they are without the other. “It’ll be interesting to see how the two characters evolve without each other because they’ve been together their whole lives.”
Octavia is now the Commander, but ruling the clans and what’s left of her people won’t be easy. “Octavia is again under the floor, which isn’t where she wants to be. The people up in space and the people in the bunker are both going to be faced with a lot of survival obstacles. It’s difficult to survive in this bunker with this mixed bag of clans that aren’t willing to let go of old resentments towards each other. Octavia has to come up with a plan to reprimand them for their bad behavior and when they fall out of line. So you’re going to have to see what in fact she does to make sure people keep the peace, keep the order, keep the chaos down and the rioting. She definitely takes a darker turn in season 5.”
Most of John Murphy’s relationships have been “forged in the fire” of war, as actor Richard Harmon put it, so the actor is curious how Murphy will fare in space with people he doesn’t really connect with. “Is Murphy ready and willing to be part of a happy family, and that we’re going to find out. Or does he push it away because of his own insecurities?”

One of the things Christopher Larkin is looking forward to most about season 5 is Monty finally having scenes with Echo (Tasya Teles). “Well, Tasya is now a regular, and I’ve never worked with Echo ever. I feel like she might kill me, but I’d like to work with her.” Larkin also never wants Monty to return to the ground, after the hell he’s been through on earth Larkin thinks Monty would be very happy living in space for the rest of his life.
Jason Rothenberg was able to share the most about what season 5 will look like, stating that he wanted to tell a new story so this seasons themes are “regeneration and rebirth.” Clarke is going to face many new challenges, including having to make decisions that are “good for her child but not for her people.” We will also see the group in space come back quickly and will get lots of flashbacks to explain some characters transformations over the 6 years.
The 100 season 5 premieres April 24th at 9pm on The CW!
