“Runaways” delivers one of its all time best and most moving character moments in “Last Waltz.” Leslie is forced into a dangerous new situation, while the Runaways gather to give Molly an unforgettable quinceanera. Karolina meets someone with a personal connection to her, while Victor reaches out to Chase.
The Truth Will Set You Free | Dale and Stacey interrogate Chase as to the whereabouts of the others. Unfortunately, they do so using the truth serum from “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which makes Chase very loopy and chatty about his sex life with Gert. Fortunately, Gert and Chase manage to escape soon after, although they are forced to leave Old Lace behind.

Having a much worse day is Leslie, who is sent to a detention center for the church- yes, this church has a detention center! Even worse, they assign Leslie a number instead of a name and borderline torture her a-la “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Just to thicken the plot a little and because Annie Wersching was really pregnant at the time, Leslie discovers that she is somehow pregnant with what is very likely Jonah’s baby. AND the leader of the detention center is Leslie’s long lost mother, Susan, who was ousted from the church! What else are you hiding up your sleeve, “Runaways?”
Party Hard | In all the chaos, Molly forgot to tell everyone that it’s her fifteenth birthday. With most of the bad guys dealt with for now, the Runaways use the cash from Awol and his men to go shopping to throw Molly a quinceanera. As the buy fancy dresses and party supplies, Karolina is greeted by the mysterious woman from last episode who introduces herself as Xavin before vanishing as quickly as she came.
Ruin the Moment | Just before the party, Victor finds a working phone in the Hostel and manages to call it. Chase answers and Victor informs him that he is still dying and would love for him to spend his final moments with him. Then, the party starts, resulting in one of the most moving scenes in the show’s history: The Runaways gather for a fun night of dancing and happiness. This scene really needs to be seen to be believed.
And then this happens: Chase tells the group that he’s leaving to go be with his father. The group is absolutely devastated, Gert and Molly especially, but they can’t talk Chase out of leaving and going to meet his parents.
“Runaways” season 2 is now streaming on Hulu.
