After the last episode of “Runaways” pretty much resolved the show’s storyline, “Past Life” decides to slow things down a bit and give us a new threat for the Runaways to face, as they struggle to deal with the events of last night. Alex tries to reconnect with Livvie, while Chase and Gert face yet another roadblock in their relationship.
So, Now What? | With Jonah dead, the show decides to give us his backstory??? In fairness, it’s an interesting backstory, which reveals that Jonah is essentially a body snatching alien who’s been hopping around from body to body over the decades after each body he takes wears out. His last form was an Australian doctor during a viral outbreak, who Jonah took control of before meeting Leslie’s father and showing him his alien powers, which his marijuana fueled brain thought was some divine power.
Speaking of which, now that Jonah is gone, Leslie decides to dismantle the church, seeing as it was just a coverup for Jonah’s horrific deeds. This doesn’t sit well with Frank, who is feeling guilty after killing Destiny’s brother, but Leslie promises to have Detective Flores make the body disappear. Unfortunately, Frank photographs Leslie dealing with the body and shows it to the church goers, framing her in an effort to take control of the church.

Let’s Just Take a Day | With the Runaways having gotten Pride out of the picture, they all decide to take a much deserved day off. Alex goes to see Livvie at the hospital after Darius’s wife has given birth, but a dirty cop on Flores’s payroll fires at them to shut them up about Darius’s death, which they’ve been investigating. Alex vows to get proof that his parents killed Darius and takes Livvie to the Hostel to keep her safe.
In other news, Gert picks up an application for college without Chase’s knowledge, and Karolina, still furious at Nico, goes to Jonah’s office at the church to find out more about him. She finds an alien cylinder with a recording of Jonah’s voice explaining his past and how he was only sacrificing people to stay in his current form, so he could see Karolina and be in one body for her.
Mission: Impossible | Alex takes Livvie, Molly, Gert, Chase and Nico to the hotel where Darius was killed to hack into the security cameras to find proof of Darius’s murder. During this, Chase finds Gert’s college application and is furious that she planned on going without him. Can’t these two just catch a break?
During this, Nico is angry at herself for killing Jonah and fracturing her relationship with Karolina, saying that the Staff was talking to her and telling her to kill him. This is interrupted by Flores and his cops arriving at the hotel after a maid alerted them to the Runaways’ presence. Alex manages to get proof that Catherine was the one who killed Darius, much to his shock, before the group scrams, but Molly gets arrested by Flores in the escape. Uh-oh!
