Quantico Recap: “LCFLUTTER”

quantico-207-lcflutter-recap

Quantico‘s sixth episode shocked audiences by revealing Nimah (Yasmine Al Massri) is working with the Citizens Liberation Front, though we do not know if it’s as an agent or as a terrorist. Alex (Priyanka Chopra) was bested in a fight with Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor), who left her tied up while she took the drives. Episode 7 picks up in the present with Alex struggling against her bindings, and in the past Alex must deal with the reality that she may not be the best agent.

Here is OMFGTV‘s recap of the thriller’s seventh episode, “LCFLUTTER”.

“There’s no such thing as going too far.” | Things between Shelby (Johanna Braddy) and Leon (Aaron Diaz) are still hot and heavy. So heavy, in fact, that Nimah thinks it’s time for Shelby to give up her role as Alex’s handler and get in the game herself. Shelby is hesitant at first, Alex is her friend and an incredible agent. But when Alex fails to secure evidence she finds in Owen Hall’s (Blair Underwood) house, Shelby is is forced to face the fact that Alex may not be the best agent for this job.

That is why Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) and Nimah are having secret meetings with Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis) behind Alex and Shelby’s backs. They seem to be preparing him for a big move while they may be preparing to remove Alex from the mission.

In class, the recruits are instructed by Owen how to perform “Enhanced Interrogation Techniques” ie: torture. Owen first performs the techniques on a few of the recruits, then he instructs the class to work together to torture him. He wants the recruits to learn what he taught them to try to get his former alias out of him. After over 20 hours of torturing Owen withing the acceptable parameters, Ryan and a few others are ready to take it up a notch.

Ryan speaks with Dayana (Pearl Thusi) and discovers she was involved with many horrifying things while living in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her advice is to torture someone Owen cares for, his daughter Lydia. Owen watches his daughter get waterboarded, and after several minutes he breaks and gives up the alias.

Owen goes to the bar to lick his wounds after arguing with Lydia and runs into Alex. They decide to grab a burger together, and viewers start to glimpse another side to Owen. He might not be the leader of the AIC, Owen Hall does not seem like the rule-breaking type. (Someone breaking the rules is why he’s at The Farm in the first place)

The final scene at The Farm shows Ryan waking up in the woods next to an empty syringe. A cell phone next to him rings, the caller informs him that he’s been selected. Ryan has been recruited by the AIC.

“I’m tired of playing nice.” | After dislocating her own shoulder to escape (total badass!), Alex ends up getting caught by some of the terrorists. But not before calling Shelby on the satellite phone! Alex is able to give Shelby the first few digits of the satellite phone number last called when it dies. Shelby gets a team working on finding the phone and its owner. This causes Miranda to panic (because she has the other phone) and frame the person closest to her, her boyfriend. She places the phone in his briefcase to shift the blame from herself to him. By doing this she is definitely starting to look a lot more guilty to the audience.

Once Alex is captured she is placed in a room that has a blood stain on the floor. Suddenly another man is placed in there with her. He tells her the terrorists want her to tell him where the drives are, and if she refuses they will kill him. Alex believes this man is working with the CLF so she refuses to help him. The terrorists come in and kill him, just to prove to her they mean business. The man is replaced with Dayana, they will torture her until Alex tells them where the drives are.

Alex and Dayana both stay strong while Dayana is tortured, until the terrorists threaten to turn her into a vegetable with a hammer. That is when Alex “breaks” and tells them Lydia is the one who took the drives. She tells them they can ping her phone if they turn the jammer off for just a minute. (By doing this the FBI gets a picture of every phone and their location in the building)

Sebastian (David Lim), Harry (Russell Tovey), and Lean somehow escape and rescue Alex and Dayana. They decide to go to the bunker downstairs to get medical supplies for Dayana, and Alex decides it is time for her to stop playing nice.

This show just keeps getting darker and darker, and we are loving it! This isn’t the first time torture has been used in Quantico, and I am sure it will not be the last as the series continues to push boundaries in network television. Will Miranda get caught by the FBI, or will she continue to remain one step ahead of them? What will happen to Ryan and Alex now that he’s been tapped? Will Alex get removed from this mission? Let us know below whether you think Alex should stick the mission out or be removed!
