Quantico Recap: “Stescalade”

quantico-203-stescalade-recap

Episode 3 of ABC‘s Quantico makes viewers continue to question Miranda’s (Aunjanue Ellis) loyalties in the present, while Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) try to gather intel on their fellow recruits in the past. Will they be able to pinpoint who is part of the AIC (the rogue faction of agents), or will they just piss off their fellow recruits by being too nosy? Find out here in OMFGTV’s recap of Quantico episode 3, “Stescalade.”

“One day. One Bug. One Shot.” | A year before, at The Farm, Alex and Ryan debrief with their handlers, Shelby (Johanna Braddy) and Nimah (Yasmine Al Massri) about their fellow recruits. They alert them of a new recruit that just arrived days before, Lee Davis (Helene Yorke). She seems very uptight and out of place in this environment. In class, the recruits learn about Assessments and how to conduct them. They are then dropped in a forest and told to use their skills to get back to The Farm. They are told to do this exercise in pairs, so Alex and Ryan seize this opportunity to question more recruits. When the recruits return, Owen (Blair Underwood) and Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor) are not pleased. The instructors lecture the recruits about how none of them used the skills they learned in class, if they had it would have taken them no more than 20 minutes to return rather than several hours.

“I’m in. Tell me what I do next.” | Ryan and Alex eventually come to the decision to bug Leon’s (Aaron Diaz) room, but when it is switched on all they hear is feedback. This means that another bug is already in place, the AIC may already be on to Alex and Ryan. When Lydia confronts her father about why she’s really working at The Farm and not in the field, she’s not happy with his response. Upon leaving his house she places a mysterious phone call, only saying she was in on some plan.

“We will find her” | In the present, the hostages are being herded somewhere new. Alex is able to sneak another phone call to Miranda, who tells her exactly what intel they need and to be careful. But Miranda soon receives a text from one of the terrorists saying they will find her. They know Alex is there, this can’t turn out well for her! At the FBI offices Shelby and Miranda are discussing who they think is behind they attack. Both theorize it is the AIC, and Shelby happens to have a report she wrote on all the suspected members of the organization. Shelby hands Miranda a data stick with the report, but the data stick and her personal computer have been infected with a virus, destroying the report. Luckily Shelby is an amazing agent and kept a hard copy. As she goes to get it we see Miranda secretly hand the data stick off to another agent.

“2 down.” | Alex continues her snooping and comes across a container full of the Citizens Liberation Front’s uniforms, so being Alex Parrish she has to put one on and sneak around behind enemy lines. She notices there is some sort of pill with the uniforms, and takes it with her. Alex gets made when Ryan and Harry’s (Russell Tovey) plan to remove a terrorists mask backfires. She is dragged out by a masked terrorist who knows who she is. Alex fights her, unmasks her revealing an instructor from The Farm, and witnesses her die from taking the suicide pill. Alex drops her former instructors body through the glass ceiling with a note pinned to it. She is sending a message to the terrorists that she is there, and she is not messing around.

The Quantico writers sure do know how to keep you on the edge of your seat! At the end of the episode we still don’t know what side Miranda is playing for, if Lydia is AIC, and we don’t know why Alex and Ryan aren’t together in the present. Fortunately, we did learn a few important things this episode, the first being that Harry is not CIA in the present. Does this have anything to do with his meeting up with a fan favorite from last season, Will (Jay Armstrong Johnson), or did he do something else to get kicked out? We also learned why Leon Velez never talks about his time in prison. What did you think of episode 3? Comment below and let us know who you think is part of the AIC!
