“Paper Girls” Team Up to Save the World in Trailer for Prime Video Series
The long awaited television adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s best selling comic book series, Paper Girls, is almost here and Prime Video has finally released the show’s first full trailer.
The series follows four drastically different paper delivery girls from 1988 who are unwittingly swept up in a time twisting adventure when they are sent to 2019 and encounter older versions of themselves while also dodging time travelers sent to destroy them.
The series is produced by Academy Award winner Brad Pitt (“Bullet Train”) and his production company Plan B, as well as Stephany Folsom (“Toy Story 4”) and Christopher Cantwell (“Halt and Catch Fire”), who also serve as head writers on the series. Starring in the lead roles are newcomers Riley Lai Nelet, Sofia Rosinsky, Fina Strazza and Camryn Jones, as well as Ali Wong, Nate Corddry and Adina Porter.
The comic book Paper Girls, created by “Runaways” mastermind Brian K. Vaughan along with artist Cliff Chiang, ran for 30 issues and won the Eisner Award for Best New Series at San Diego Comic Con in 2016. It was recently collected in the graphic novel, “Paper Girls: The Complete Story” from Image Comics.
From Prime Video, “It’s the day after Halloween in 1988 when four young friends accidentally stumble into an intense time war and find themselves inexplicably transported to the year 2019. When they come face-to-face with their adult selves, each girl discovers her own strengths as together they try to find a way back to the past while saving the world of the future.”
