The Peripheral continues on Prime Video with an episode that answers some of the many questions viewers have, only to open a whole new Pandora’s Box. Flynne and Burton fight for their home, while Flynne meets Wilf and discovers what exactly the Peripheral of the title is.

Lock and Load | With mercenaries closing in on their house, Burton (Jack Reynor) orders Flynne (Chloe Grace Moretz) to hide in the house, while he and his friends load up their absurdly large guns to fight back. Impressively, they manage to wipe out most of the attackers, but get cornered by a few with a machine gun, until none other than Conner (Eli Goree) arrives to finish them off. Meanwhile in London, Wilf (Gary Carr) has a flashback to him unsuccessfully trying to get information from Aelita (Charlotte Riley) before he is contacted by a guy named Lev (JJ Feild), who orders him to get Flynne into a Peripheral and says she may be the key to finding Aelita.

Get Me an Exit | Left with few options, Flynne logs back into the sim via the headset, except this time, she’s in her own body instead of Ice’s. She wakes up in an apartment with Wilf, who demands her help to find Aelita, but Flynne wisely demands that he explain everything first. He tells her that she is in a, you guessed it, Peripheral that transfers her consciousness into a body 70 years in the future in London. Naturally, Flynne doesn’t believe him, but he proves it by showing her an obituary of her own mother from four weeks from her time. He also pays for an experimental drug in her time that can save her life in exchange for her help. Flynne logs out and immediately heads to her pharmacy and gets the drug to give to her mother (Melinda Page Hamilton).

Future Proof | Flynne explains everything to Burton and he’s with her up until the part about the drug for their mother. He yells at her for believing Wilf and giving the medicine to their mother, but Flynne insists that she’s going back in and trusting Wilf. Flynne enters the Peripheral again and meets Wilf, Lev and his associate Ash (Katie Leung), who explain that Aelita was their operative to get intel on the institute housing the pyramid, but she vanished without a trace. When Flynne demands to know what happens to her and her family in the future, they dodge the question and also let slip that the drug they gave her as a 57% chance of curing her mother.

Tommy Constantine (Alex Hernandez) finds the hitmen’s invisible cars while on patrol and inquires Burton about it, but he lies his way out of it. Flynne informs Burton that Wolf and his crew will pay them handsomely for their help and they prove it by giving them the winning lottery numbers for that week, which goes some way to proving to Burton that she’s telling the truth. Burton also mentions to Flynne that when she was playing the shooter sim under his gamer tag, she got an empathy bonus for freeing sheep during the game. This inspires Burton to go visit Conner in his trailer and remove the bullets from the gun he has on his floor before offering him a position to help them, on the condition that he stays sober.

Elsewhere, Corbell Pickett (Louis Herthum) is enjoying himself in a sim, when he is visited by Daniel (David Hoflin), the security officer from the future who destroyed Ice’s body, who offers him $10 million to kill Flynne and Burton, but he refuses- until his bank account receives $2.5 million out of the blue. In the middle of the night, Flynne wakes up to find her mother wandering around with her sight suddenly restored.
